Sage Windows client crashing on playback

I have a Sagetv server in my basement running on a Quad Core Win7 64 bit machine. So far, that has been pretty ok (Except that I can't talk to my RNG-110 cable boxes via firewire for channel changing...). Right now I have a HDHomeRun capturing ClearQAM (about a dozen channels), and I am working on getting a Hauppauge HDPVR set to talk to an RNG-110 HD STB.

Upstairs I have installed a Windows Client installed on an XP box. I installed the 7.1.5Beta. When I try to playback something captured in HD from the HDPVR, I see about 2 seconds of video, and then I get a crash in ffmpeg.

Is there a way to hook in another player (such as VLC from videolan), or do debug why ffmpeg is crashing?

What version are you running on the server? Client and server must be running the same version of SageTV; you can't mix versions.

Also what does ffmpeg have to do with anything? There's no reason it should be involved in playback at all. Or did you mean ffdshow? In that case I'd recommend switching to a different video decoder, preferably one capable of DXVA acceleration. The included SageTV MPEG Decoder ought to work.

For more detailed help you'll need to provide more information about the client machine's graphics hardware and drivers, what codecs you have installed, and how you have SageTV Client configured for playback in Detailed Settings.
