I believe it is a generic message when the extender cannot talk to the server over the Internet. The HD300 can send a wake on LAN packet to the server. When it can't communicate with the NIC for whatever reason it will try to send a WOL packet. Make use your extender has an IP address. And if you know that IP address you can try pinging it from another PC on the network.
