Thin Client Tuners
Hi,
Im setting up a system for a friend using a server with a 1.6Tb RAID 5 array connected to a gigabit LAN. The server at the moment is proposed to be using Sage TV with two Hauppauge PVR350 cards for capture. If the devices on the LAN are to be Thin Client PCs is there a cheap cheerful TV tuner card that works well with Sage TV? I need to keep costs down and clearly fittinging PVR250s or 350s here and there soon adds up. Ideas please..... Chris. Note: Im not really thinking in terms of the clients being used to record TV, but only as a straight TV tunner. |

Why put tuners in the clients at all? Just put all the tuners in the server. And why 350's in the server? Are you using the tv out on them? That is really the only advantage of the 350 over a 250.

How do you set up a thin client to output to TV? I have a PIII, 800 mhz w/ pvr350 as my box now. If I want to hide it away as a server and use a thin client to access the server, how strong of a machine do I need as a client and again what do I do to output to the tv?

This is where the Hauppauge MediaMVP would be great. I really hope that they release a full function client for it.
