Fanart for TV shows...

I installed Diamond last night and love it so far. Great job everyone!

My question is once I've enabled fanart, how long does it take for it to display when looking at my recorded shows? For instance, I have CSI New York as a favorite and I'd like to see the awesome fanart like it is displayed in the screenshots.

In the current version timing is everthing... if you bring in recent fanart using BMT then although BMT may be done with the metadata it is likely still downloading the fanart, so if you jumped into the diamond interface the fanart may not have been there in time so the system may cache a "blank" fanart. So for this release, just try waiting a bit, then delete the Diamond Cache (check the wiki for instructions) and go and see the new fanart.

Coming soon in 3.2 will be an option to delete the cache and immediately rebuild the full cache... takes a few moments but at least you control the when!

While BMT looks really intimidating, it is really easy once you understand what is going on. It will scrape for metadata if it can figure out what the show/movie is. If it can't just log in, tell it what the show is, and it will download the meta data after that.

I am in and out of there in about 30 seconds most of the time if it can't figure out what the movie is. I probably only use 1% of BMT's features, but that is all I need!

got it mostly working. @Biggen, you mention "telling it what the show is". How do I do that?

I'm not at home at the moment but from memory:

When you log into the BMT webui click browse at the top. Then on the left there is another link that says "Missing Metadata". Click on that link and it will show you what shows BMT hasn't been able to get metadata for. You can then click those individual tv shows/movies and search the various internet databases from within the BMT webui to update the metadata for those shows. Click "Save" at the top, and BMT will take care of the rest.

Sometimes I'll notice that BMT will download the wrong poster art for a particular show. It isn't BMT's fault, but the database it is pulling from might have the wrong poster art listed for that movie. So I log into BMT, update that particular movies poster art image, click save, and then delete the show cache in diamond and its fixed.

Just play with it a bit and you will get it figured out.
