Solution for No Audio with the Colossus card

Howdy all,

We found a solution to the problem some users are having where they are getting no audio sometimes with the Hauppauge Colossus card. To resolve this for now, just set this in your Sage.properties file:

mmc/set_crossbar_redundantly=true


We'll be putting out V7.1.3 beta today, but automating this workaround did not make it into the build (but it will be in 7.1.4 when that comes out).

(and don't think about trying to download 7.1.3 before we post that it's ready....you will only cause yourself pain by downloading an incomplete installer...we post about them very shortly after the uploads are complete).

would this also be the reason why the HD-PVR steals audio from recordings and playback in a system with both cards?

Edit: tried this fix, however, when a recording that runs through the HD-PVR begins, it eliminates ALL audio from getting to the Colossus.
This doesn't happen in reverse, ie when a Colossus recording begins while watching the HD-PVR's output in Sage.

We just put out 7.1.4 which then only applies this fix to Colossus, so just erase that propery setting you made and then try 7.1.4. See if that works.

Anyone else getting this error message when trying to install 7.1.4?

EDIT: Must have been a bad download, I re-downloaded and installation was successful.

OK, thanks. I'm also concerned it's a problem with the Realtek/ATI HDMI drivers, but how on earth would I know?

thanks. PS the only reason I've put up with the struggles of HD recording is because I like the Sage concept / interface / openess so much.

If you ever get a chance to re-create the audio being stripped from Colossus when an HD-PVR recording fires up, I'd love to get that fixed.

Hauppauge had no insight when quizzed.

Forget about asking AMD/ATI

You can reclaim the audio on the Colossus by changing channels, however, if your currently recording with Colossus and a HD-PVR recording fires, then is is impossible, and the Colossus recording is therefore trashed.
