A Small Minor Feature Request

This is a small and insignificant request and I hope it's not too difficult to include.

Would it be possible to have an "audio event" to correspond with the pushing of the remote buttons?

It gives me piece of mind getting an audio "BLEEP" that tells me that the system has received my input and is acting on it.

If you use the PVR remote, edit the irremote.ini and set beep=1, I think. Just look for beep and its self explanatory. It will play the windows default beep so you can change it in control panel/sounds. I use this method and would never go back to a soundless remote again.

Thanx for that info!

Much appreciated.

I like that. I really did not think about the lack of a beep (compared to my TiVo). but I'm going to try this when I get home.

OOOPs What have I done?

I changeed the two BEEP settings in the irremote.ini file. I basically just removed the ';' for them.

Now, I don't get ANY windows Audio at all. Not even thru WinAmp. But I do get audio at boot up (My P4PE has a voice Boot Up message) so I knew the speakers are hooked in properly.

I can't see how changing those two settings would result in loss of audio. But I changed them back and will report.

Any one have any ideas?

Heh heh, that would have no effect. Just to make sure though, you can close the irremote application. Thats the only thing that uses this ini. You are right about the ";", I remember now. Check to make sure you did not accidentally click mute for some reason.

Yep, somehow my MUTE box was checked.

In my defense, I *DID* look at those settings, but my resolution was so crappy in Windows that I missed it the first time (anyone point me to a good FAQ for COMPONENT VIDEO SETTINGS with a GEFORCE Video card??)

Rebooted to reset the irremote.ini and Viola!!

Up and running now with sound for Sage! Now, to find the Star Trek Communicator .wav and I'll be set!!

Thanx all for the assist..

Just a warning....you might want to pick a sound you can live with. It took me a while to get a good one that did not grate on my nerves.

I was reminded of this thread... It seems that it is a common problem to have the "Default Beep" option disappear.

If there is no entry for "Default Beep", under XP, edit the registry; go to:

"My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\.Default\"

and add anew ".Default" entry, such that there is now a registry entry for:

"My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\.Default\.Default".

An option for Default Beep should now show up in the list of Program Events.
