Advice on running Sage7 and Vista MC concurrently
Hi, for various reasons I'd like to run Sage 7 and VMC at the same time from the same box. However there seems to be a conflict which I've read up on in this forum. The problem seems to be stvm2ve.ax, located in the Sage Common files. It causes the VMC Receiver Service to crash.
I do have tuners installed on both applications, but no common tuners (WinTV Nova T-500 dual on the VMC and AverTV Hybrid PCI on Sage, using the digital tuner and composite inputs). However Sage includes reference to the WinTV Nova dual tuner on VMC in Sage.properties (e.g. mmc/encoders/-1378563979/video_capture_device_name=Nova-DT DVB-T Capture (Dev1 Path1)). I thought that deleting this might resolve the conflict. Deleting these with Sage server stopped, and asking Sage to ignore the Win TV tuners in Sage.Properties (mmc/ignore_encoders=...) still results in the reference to this tuner reappearing in the mmc/encoders/ section in Sage.Properties when the server is re-started. If I unregister stvm2ve.ax the conflict is resolved, however the consequence in Sage is that I receive an error when viewing live TV on the composite input (Problem setting up software video compression Error (-5, 0x8004015)). The Digital Tuner input on the same AverTv card tunes fine. The composite input works fine with stvm2ve.ax registered. One difference I can think of, and having read other posts about IRs causing conflicts, is that the composite input utilises a USB device to change channels on a SkyHD box. The device is a Dusky USB (www.dusky-control.com) called through the registry using exetuner. Works great normally. Can anyone help me with what the stvm2ve.ax does ( I think it is a codec) and why it might give the live TV error on the composite input but not the digital tuner? Or how I can keep stvm2ve.ax registered but avoid the conflict with Vista MC? Or any tips on working with both Sage 7 and VMC? Thanks - I want to keep VMC as I have extenders and am happy with it - I love Sage for its placeshifter functionality and am considering an upgrade to Sage7 from 6 (running the 7 trial right now). I'd much rather use both if at all possible or else Vista MC and a Slingbox might be for me. thanks again Ade
