Agressive Negative IR Profiling

I finally had a chance (read: remembered) to try the aggressive_negative_profiling property (mentioned by Narflex here) the last time I rebooted my PC. This property is supposed to try to cut down on unwanted Intelligent Recordings. I currently have the lookahead scheduling (see this FAQ entry) set to 5 days; in that time, a total of 8 IR shows were sheduled, out of 35 shows, which included 1 manual recording that I do not remember setting. (!?) Those 8 shows were all kids shows that my daughter watches. No other IR shows were scheduled.

After turning that property off again, I ended up with 103 sheduled recordings over the same time period -- I figure that makes 76 IR shows scheduled. Of those shows, there were several that I would mark as don't-likes, but many were shows that I might one day watch, so I left them in the schedule, even if that means I'll delete the show immediately after recording. (Wish there were a way to say: "don't record this airing, but don't ignore the show in the future".) Quite a few were series/specials that I will watch when they are recorded. There were also a couple shows that I am sure that I marked every future airing as not liked -- I did this just a couple days ago, so these airings should have been still marked that way. There seems to be a problem remembering don't likes after restarting SageTV.

Overall, I would have to say that the original IR setting produces more watchable shows for me, even if the agressive negative setting scheduled no bad shows.

Has anyone else tried this and have feedback to offer?
