Playon UPnP browse x86_64 issues

I am running Sage server v7.0.23.1, on Ubuntu server 10.10, 64 bit. I have Playon running on a separate windows box. Other devices on the subnet (with UPnP clients) can see the Playon service/UPnP.

I can not get the Playon/UPnP browser to work from the Ubuntu SageTV server and connect/browse. On the TV interface it will say “The external feed was empty” when I try to Browse PlayOn or UpnP.

Digging into the logs and on the server itself, I tried the following;

I reported that problem in the other thread. I haven't checked recently, but I suspect it's still borked. The problem is that various perl modules and associated libraries that ship with 64-bit Ubuntu 10.10 aren't the version that the UPnP plugin needs.

This is sort of a hard problem for the plugin author to solve so that it'll work on any Linux distro because each distro will have a different (and possibly changing) version of these modules. I suspect it'll work again at some point, then break again, then work again...
