unRAID configuration advice

Anybody have any advice on the best way to configure unRAID shares for SageTV use?

I'm going to be recording shows to the local drive on my SageTV server, then moving them nightly to the unRAID box. Is there any advantage / disadvantage to setting up an unRAID user share as the destination of these moves? Or is it just as well to leave the disk1, disk2, ... diskN shares in place and use those?

Right now I only have disk1 and disk2, and it would be easy enough to write the copy script to alternate between them. Once I add disk3, disk4, etc it might not be so easy. I'm thinking that setting up a user share for the user under which the SageTV service is running would simplify things in the long run.

Any advice or opinions would be most welcome. Thanks.

I would go with User Shares for the ease.
That way you don't have to change anything as you add disks.

The spanning shares is one of the best reasons to have unRAID.

Not having to mess with which drive has what is huge.

Just remember to read the unRAID documentation when setting up your shares. Split levels are important when it comes to Movie streaming. You don't want SageTV to have to go searching a different drive for the next part of your movie as you watch it.
