Stand Alone Power Supply?
I am looking for a power supply that does not need to be attached to a mother board to work. I need it to power Hard Drives only and not mother board... is this possible?. I have spare power supplies is there a way to get those to work without a motherboard?

There is a pin on the ATX header (Pin 14 - PS_ON, usually a green wire) that is jumpered to ground (Any of the black wires) to turn the power supply on. This is how the motherboard 'controls' it. You can just as easily jumper this wire, and it will be on whenever plugged in.

instead of just jumpering, is there a way to wire it to another power supply so that they come on together?

Yeah, if you know something about electronics, you can use a relay that is triggered off the 12V or 5V output of the 'primary' power supply, to turn on the secondary power supply (by closing contacts in place of that jumper).
EDIT: Or buy the adapter in the previous post.. ;-)

I got mine with the original Cooler Master Stacker STC-01. I use this to connect 2 Antec PSU's, one Quattro 850 and a TP-650. Run a total of 28 hdd's with both the PSU's combined.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who believes in plenty of PSU power in servers. I've had too many hard drives lost due to only relying on a single power supply.
