Sage 7 Problem - Manual Override of Favorite Messes Both Up

I've never had this happen before under Sage 6 but it's happening under Sage 7:

I have a favorite cartoon set to record every morning for my son at 8:30 AM. Now, it's on a lot and every now and then a movie I want to catch as a manual recording overlaps it. I schedule it anyway, and tell the "!" box to ignore it.

My HD-PVR will start recording the movie. Let's say it starts at 7:30 AM and goes to 9:30 AM.

Problem is, ant 8:30 AM it stops recording the movie and tries to start recording the favorite AND, worst of all, faults out the HD-PVR so I have to cold-boot the system to get the HD-PVR back, otherwise it just throws repeated error message on the server.

Anyone had this? Is there a cure for it?

At first, because I did it so infrequently, I thought it might be a picky HD-PVR, but it only happens in this scenario, and never under Sage v6.

Thanks for any help.

Sage v7 Not Selecting Available OTA Tuners

I live in an area served by OTA affiliates north and south of me, so I have 2 affiliates per major netowrk.

Here is what I am finding with Sage 7:

We have favorites with 1-minute pads, and each favorite can use either the northern or southern affiliate tuners. We have 3 northern and 3 southern tuners.

Problem is, Sage is not allocating tuners to each show in a way that makes sense. if 4 shows are recording, and each can tune from a northern or southern market, as set in the favorites, Sage still insists it's a conflict because it want to record all 4 shows from, say, the southern market channels and then it insists I am a tuner short.

Rather than having 2 tuners free, which Sage should realize, it says I am a tuner short, which I am not, obviously.

And this happens frequently. For a while, all of our favorite shows were stacked on Thursday nights.

But the bottom line is, Sage v7 is not choosing the path of least conflict. It is ignoring available channels and tuners.

Could you zip & post debug logs from when both issues occur? And, include your sage.properties file from the server.

Yes I will try to get those and now there is another issue I am posting about. Never seen this under Sage 6.

I will post all and properties file.

How do I get debug logs? That hyperlink took me to an old PVR card discussion.

Thanks.

OK, thanks Andy - I will do that with the properties and get you a debug log. It's really hard on my HD-PVR as well - completely whacks it because it makes it lose signal.

I think I found it:

I was using one of the "courtesy" plug-ins that give you all sorts of choices when a tuner conflict is going to occur. I think this must have been interfering with tuner allocation/channel changing.

It's called "Change Channel to Record" by 3dOptics.

This does not fix the Madison/Rockford market issue with giving incorrect tuner info for WREX-DT 13, but it fixes manuals and favorites "colliding" and crashing the tuners, getting half of each show, etc.

*******************NOPE - I WAS WRONG - IT JUST DID IT TO ME AGAIN WITH THE PLUGIN DISABLED **************************************************

Yeah, definitely not gone.

It occurs during Dish's update time mostly

And requires a cold-start of the HD-PVR if that tuner is involved.

Thanks for any help. This is frustrating because I caught it with a favorite/manual partial of both recordings and a crashed HD-PVR and now I can't find the log.
The debug FAQ says it is in the SageTV directory and it creates a new sagetv_0.txt file each time SageTV starts.

The older files are renamed _1, _2, and _3.

If you aren't seeing the .txt files, then maybe you have extensions turned off in Windows Explorer.
