HD PVR audio output priorities

Not sure if this is a problem or not, as I seem to recall it working before.

In Total Media Extreme, if you set 'audio input' to 'S/PDIF', then does audio also pass through the RCA outputs on the back of the HD-PVR?

As it stands now, with my just-returned-from-RMA unit (which is now a F1, as opposed to the E1 I sent in), no audio will output from the RCA outs if S/PDIF audio IN is selected.

hmmm

Correct and you can only have one set of cables connected (either RCA or SPDIF) or it won't work either. Can't have both connected to the unit at the same time.

Do you mean connected to the inputs or outputs? As it stands now, I have BOTH inputs connected, but only RCA outputs wired up.

I get audio to my system from the HDMI cable from the HTPC.

But, I seem to be able to switch back and forth between S/PDIF or RCA inputs via Total Media Extreme.

I guess if one chooses RCA audio input, then 5.1 decoding is lost, yes?

Connected to outputs. Only one output will work at a time and only 1 set of cables can be connected. And if you do RCA output you lose 5.1. And you can switch between the two within Sage when setting up the tuner.
