double feature SVU snafu
Hi,
Last night NBC ran a "double feature" of L&O SVU, where they combined S12E11 "Pop" and S12E12 "Possessed" into one 2 hour airing. Before recording, SageTV showed the episode title as "Pop; Possessed" and showed descriptions of both eps. After recording, the title was "Possessed" with no info at all. From my HD300, I went into the Fanart/Metadata menu & selected "find metadata" for the episode. Then it changed to "Pop" with the appropriate info for that episode. But it is still less than ideal.. I'm running BMT on Sage 7 with "Automatic Metadata/Fanart Lookups Enabled" set to true. I've got it set this way so that shows I download from comedy central & hulu via scripts get metadata. I think that BMT must have clobbered the description / title when it did its automatic lookup. Is there anyway to have BMT automatically lookup metadata only for some media files? Eg, not for recordings? Also, is there any way for BMT to be able to handle these double features where 2 eps are in one media file? Hulu also does this for things like the Peanuts / Charlie Brown holiday videos. I end up manually editing those. Thanks! Drew

Drew, It's hard to say if BMT will handle multiple combined episodes. Certainly, the metadata fields don't allow for that today, but it something that i should consider. I know this happens quite a bit with kids shows as well. As for the real snafu... BMT updated the metadata, including the titles, and you probably had the Preserve original recording metadata enabled. Unfortunately there was a bug in the last build the didn't honor that flag. It's been fixed in the 4.9.7 release. What should have happened was that BMT should have simply updated the fanart for that show, and NOT changed the title. Unforuntately, you'll have to manually edit the recording now to set it back to normal. By default BMT does not update recording metadata, it simply fetches fanart and populates the season and episode information. You can, if you want, exclude recordings altogether, so that it won't even fetch fanart for shows. Check out the section in the user guide on Media Types, if you want to do this.
