HD300 HDMI very odd color issues
I've been seeing VERY odd color issues on my HD300.
It is clearly the HD300 HDMI output. I tried different TVs and HDMI cables, and the issue was there. I tried the same recordings on other extenders in the house (HD100s and HD200s) and they are fine, so it's not the recordings or Sage software. The picture via other outputs (composite) on the HD300 is fine, too, so it's clearly only the HDMI output of the HD300. When the issue appears, it is as though the tint is out of whack. If there are black side bars (4:3 on a 16:9 screen, like during a commercial or a show that mixes HD and SD stuff), they are purple-ish. Anything on-screen that should be black looks purple-ish. You can see all colors (none are missing that I can tell), but there appears to be a greenish halo around people. The entire screen seems washed-out and the color is just... off. I can't describe it, but it's wrong. The odd part is WHEN it occurs. It only occurs on some recordings, and it only occurs sometimes. It appears when the screen changes (cut from one camera to another, or one scene to another). It occurs while watching things I have had for months and which were fine before. Sometimes when they cut to another camera/scene, the picture will be fine for a second, then will go bad. Sometimes it's bad throughout an entire sequence, but will be fine during, say, the following commercials. Sometimes it will stay fine for entire sequences. Some types of scenes (i.e., outdoor, with trees and sky) seem to usually be fine. Some scenes (street scenes, lots of concrete/brick) seem to always be bad. Ripped DVDs are fine (watched an entire movie last night). Home movies and videos from other sources are fine. Menu/UI items are fine - even if the issue is occurring during a recording, and I hit the "info" or I get a call on the Caller ID plugin and the bubble pops up, that is fine, in the midst of the bad recording below it. It's just Sage recordings, and just some of them, and just some scenes. I'm filing a report but I wanted to also post here in case anyone has seen this issue. I'm no electronics expert but I fear it's something gone bad in the HD300.

Pull the power on the HD300 to power cycle the unit. If that makes it go away then it is a known bug that has been corrected in the latest beta firmware. If you play any music the purple tint will come back. You can read about it here: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52601
