Fan Art Backgrounds

So I just upgraded from SageTV6 to SageTV7 by way of a clean install.

On version 6 I was using SageMC + BMT + iMovies to display all the fan art, posters, backgrounds etc for my recorded TV and movies.

On version 7, I have installed the BMT plugin, and the MBDiamond theme all from the new and impressive plugins menu. However when I go to the videos menu I am not seeing any of my fanart backgrounds and only some of the fan art posters. When I login to the BMT web interface EVERY movie I have in there has associated fan art.

So what am I missing to be able to use all of my fan art again?

For further clarification, I remember when using version 6 and SageMC you had to "enable" fan art which allowed you to see it on menu's like the TV menu and as I stated above I was using the iMovies plugin to view all my fan art for my movies.

I was assuming that version7 had the ability to display fan art out of the box for the TV and videos menu or is does it need to be enabled somewhere or do I need another plugin? Remember again that ALL of my fan art has already been downloaded via the use of BMT.

Sage7 does not really seem to handle Fanart - that is one of the reasons that I still use SageMC with Sage7 so that I still have all of the Fanart. There will (hopefully) be some new UIs like Phoenix shortly that will fix this.

Sounds like you just need the "Phoenix Fanart for SageTV V7" plugin. Install that I think you will be good to go. There is also a Phoenix plugin for the Malore menus if you use those. Good Luck.

With diamond is the only way to view full backgrounds you need to hit options and enable it under diamond options for that screen.

Fanart worka fine with v7.

Does that include context sensitive fanart that changes the background when browsing TV shows/ videos as well as in the guide?

I can't find these options- should this come up under any screen of is this a config that is done in Detailed Setup? Or is this done in the config via the plugin manager?

You must have sage diamond installed then just hit options.

Is Sage Diamond the same as MBDiamond? I have MBDiamond installed but I don't see any options that pertain to backgrounds

Diamond UI Mod is different and has lots of UI stuff added. Also includes new themes as part of the package.

MBDiamond was just a theme nothing else.

OK, thanks. The OP mentioned MBDiamond which got me off track. Is this a large plugin as it is downloading very slowly?

About 60MB, google code hosting has been slow lately at times.

"Diamond" without "theme"?

Quick semi-hijack.

I also used to use SageMC on v6, and when I upgraded to v7 went to the Serenity theme with the Metadata tools and Phoenix API. I do kinda miss the fan-art backgrounding too.

But my wife likes the Serenity theme in general, so if I install Diamond, can it enable to fanart backgrounding without otherwise altering the general UI layout? e.g. can Diamond only be used with its own 'theme' engaged or does it just add the fanart backgrounding, banner, etc hooks? Basically, the WAF is good right now after some tweaking, and I don't want to mess it up by continuing to "freaking fiddle with everything so I never know what's what!" Especially around the oh-so-stressless holidays.

The Diamond UI Mod requires the use of a "Diamond xxxxxx" theme as there are Diamond specific images for the mod.

There is a "Diamond Serenity" theme included in the package, you can also mix and match theme elements to create your own "Diamond" sub theme.

I am quite surprised at the interest that my question generated. I guess I was not the only person that had a question in regards to how to get the "purty" backgrounds and such back.

I followed the advise by plucky and jorton and I am quite pleased with the look and feel now that the diamond UI mod provides. Thanks to everyone!!!

I am also glad that you asked the question as I was under the mistaken impression that the Sage7 UI didn't support Fanart the way that SageMC did. Now I just wish you could simplify the menu structure.
