Unable to add channels on Hd-pvr

I'm using an HDprv with a comcast box. I enabled the abc,cbs,nbc HD channels on it, but they will not show up in guide. I do have my hd home setup to pull on those channels on there. But I would like them in both places since the OWA signal gets choppy sometimes.

Any reason why they won't show int he guide after adding them to the hd-pvr?

Thanks

I am not sure if I understand.

If you have the channels on your HD home Run tuner

and then add the same channels on the HDPVR.

They will only show up once in the guide and will be available from both sources. You can edit the tuner merit value in Sageproperty file so that one tuner gets used before another.

Or add the channels as ABC and ABCHD and assign to the two different tuners.

If they are enabled on a lineup, they are listed in the guide unless a plugin is blocking them. They will be listed only once, though, when enabled on multiple lineups -- this is explained in the PDF manual on pages 53 and 159.

Well, I'm using 2 different tuners, 2 different line ups. One is for the OWA and one is for comcast connected to the HD-PVR. But they are showing the same shows though.

Is there a way to add the comcast channels also?

I'm a a little confused on "You can edit the tuner merit value in Sageproperty file so that one tuner gets used before another."

I can't find the correct entry to change.

Thanks

This is one of those features in Sage that has some draw backs, if you have channels in your OTA line-up for which reception is not always good. Changing the merit is not very helpful here, because normally it makes sense to prefer OTA tuners as the OTA picture quality is normally better than anything else.

I'd wish that Sage showed some flexibility here to allow both channels (from the different sources) to be shown and selected in the guide. That way there'd be better control to switch channels depending on circumstances (e.g. use the safer hdpvr channel for favorites, but use the OTA for live tv/manual recordings). Another option would be to set the merit based on channels, which could allow to prefer OTA for all channels that always have good reception.

mmc/encoders/XXX/encoder_merit
used to determine which capture device is 'preferred' when all other things are equal;
higher numbers mean higher priority

XXX is the number assigned to your tuner. Search your sageproperty file for HDPVR and note the tuner number. Then set this line;
mmc/encoders/XXX/encoder_merit to a number which is higher then the number used on your HDHomeRun tuner.

Net result the HDPVR is tuned first unless it is being used.
