Anybody tried one of these?
Has anybody tried one of these motherboards for an extender?
http://downloadmirror.intel.com/19123/eng/D525MW_ProductGuide01_English.pdf It only has VGA output, but it is fanless and uses DDR3...

Your link is broken, you might want to fix it...
Not sure I understand Intel's design decision on this one, no DVI or HDMI video connector, but it includes a parallel port? Maybe they're targeting people who still have a working HP Deskjet 500?

hey, the HP500 was one fine printer...

I don't think that will be very good as a client, simply because I don't think it will hardware accelerate the video playback. You'd be better off going with something with a decent GPU (like the i3 series on an H55 board).

Actually - it appears that GMA3150 does have MPEG2 Hardware Acceleration. Don't know if it's good enough for DirectX - I'm using Overlay now anyway.
I use these a lot for inexpensive and energy efficient desktop replacements. I've used 20 of them this month alone. If I can keep one around long enough I'll set it up and try it out. I'll let you know how it comes out.

Update
Ok - so I set one of these up. Initially I installed an Nvidia 9500GT PCI video card for DVI output, but my monitor seemed to think it was getting digital audio then I had no (analog) sound (no digital audio input on the video card). Video playback worked fine.
Since I was forced to use analog video (to get sound) I .decided to remove the card and try the Intel GMA video. To my surprise it plays back quite nicely even using EVR. I'm glad I opted for Win7. Using Microsoft DTV-DVD Decoder. Haven't done any MP4 playback yet (I don't usually use MP4 but will convert some stuff just to test) and need to install blu-ray playback software to test the blu-ray drive out. I'll update this thread after I've done some more, but so far it's nice and snappy! (And inexpensive)
