HD300 HD audio popping

I'm having an issue where I get intermittent popping over the speakers when watching a ripped Blu-Ray with HD audio. It only happens with HD audio, and only once every 5-10 minutes or so, but is extremely loud and startling.

The HD300 is connected via HDMI to my Marantz receiver. My PS3 and XBox 360 (with HD-DVD) are also connected via HDMI to the same receiver, and do not exhibit the same popping noise. The Blu-Ray's are direct rips from owned copies, using the main movie M2TS file.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Have you had any luck with this? My popping and cracking happens every few seconds or so.

I am starting to think that the files associated with decoding and rendering are corrupt but have no idea as to how to troubleshoot that.

I did send my HD 300 log files to support and will share what they find with that.

Thx!

Sounds like it could be a hdmi compatibility/driver issue with the marantz/denon brands and the HD300. I've got a denon receiver so I'll see what I can do about getting hold of a vid with hd audio.

If both the marantz and denon are post 2002 when they merged there's a high probably have the same hdmi input circuits in them. They certainly share chipsets and layout designs between the 2 brands and have done for many years since the merger.

Support is asking me to return BOTH HD300s as they are showing the same issue. I wonder if they had a manufacturing issue or have changed something since the first run.

WhiteCobra, did you ever get your situation resolved...

I haven't had a chance to watch any movies on Sage recently. I'm off work next week so I'm sure we will watch a bunch of movies. If the issue continues I'll open a ticket with support.

Thanks!

White94Cobra, On your remote try hitting "video out" until you get 1080i and see if that helps. On another thread, someone was having issues with DTS-MA audio problems at 1080p and that worked for them.

I changed my Video Out to 1080i and audio is great now... Support wanted me to send back both my HD300s but it surely looks to be a firmware issue now.
