Android application: PlayOn - TV Recordings, MKVs, music, pics, Hulu (Coming soon!!!)

For those of you who have an Android phone and want to easily access access your TV recordings, blu-ray MKV's and other media formats on your sageTV PC, even Hulu, Netflix, Amazon VOD, your music, pics, etc on your mobile phone (4G, 3G, wi-fi), you will be able to do it very soon! It just requires a one step installation of the upcoming Playon app and enabling mobile playback.

I'm pre-release testing it now. My expectation before testing was very low thinking it will be super clunky, hard to install, with other software dependencies, needing tech support, etc. But, boy was I wrong! It took 2 minutes to install and configure!! I didnt even need to install an app on my Android! I can finally watch TV and access my entire media collection (even blu-ray movies which look amazing) on my Android phone from anywhere. The video is VERY CLEAR and smooth playback; even for intense trancoding of 1080p bluray mkvs to mobile phone format.

It looks like Playon developers want to be certain that the public release is going to be a great success; which is why they haven't released it yet to the public. All I can say is it works perfectly for me so far. A big thumbs up!

BTW: This is also available for iphones as well. I'm guessing the release date for the android platform will be sometime in the next few weeks on PlayOn's website.

must have. is this an upgrade (pay) addon to playon or is it just an upgrade?

I'm guessing its free to access your PC's files and it costs to see netflix/hulu content. You can actually sort-of try it with the current version playon version by select the folders to share under the "My Media" tab and select "Enable". Currently, it only works with the iphone. You can at least see it list your media files on the android; just not play them with the current public version.

On Android Motorola Droid running custom 2.2

I configured playon for mobile with manual router configuration, and configured router to forward port. I can connect with device through the browser by going to m.playon.tv, but all i see is The playon stations, i dont see any of my local media. IS that something i have to wait for the public release for?

Did you follow what I mentioned above? If you dont, you wont see your media listed.

got it. had to restart playon. works perfect for browsing, cant wait for streaming!!!!
