Help a lady out :)
Hello! I want to buy my husband a Sage TV Extender to hook up to our upstairs HD TV that is not currently linked to our Sage server. Is this what I want to get him, the Sage TV Media Extender? I don't want to look like an idiot and get him the wrong thing for his birthday. I saw two things on the website that looked like they hooked up to the TV and I need to know which one to get him and if I need to buy anything else to go along with it. I want to look really smart and totally surprise him because I told him to dream on and we couldn't afford one right now I know he always comes on here for help so I joined the forum to ask you guys!
Thanks! |

1) Do you have a network connection at this TV?
If you do, then all you need to buy is an HD300 from the sage store and you will be good to go. http://sagetv.com/hd_theater.html If you do not have a network connection you will also need a way to connect this HD300 to the network and access the sage tv server. you can do this by also buying the HD300 wireless network adaptor. http://sagetv.com/hd_theater.html and http://store.sagetv.com/mm5/merchant...tegory_Code=HD hope that helps! ~Pix64 |

Thank you so much! I will order ASAP. I don't think it would be hard for him to run an internet connection up to the TV, but the wireless sounds a lot easier. Is the wireless thing that Sage TV sells the only brand you can get, or are there other brands that people buy? I want to look really cool here, like I totally understand what is going on

As far as i know it is the only one certified to work.
a direct connection would be much better, and i would highly recommend going that route. i have heard the wireless can be hit or miss. ~Pix64 |

Plus you would have to have a wireless router/AP being used on the network to use the wireless adapter for the HD300. Until very recently I only had a wired network. I bought an AP so that I could use my laptop in wireless mode (it's faster and more convienent than the 100mb wired connection).

Thank you, PiX64. I will hold off on the wireless and suggest the direct connection.

Wow, lucky dude. I wish my lady is as knowledgable about my hobbies.
I assume he uses and setup the SageTV system, does he frequent this forum? The SageTV WAF (Wife Approval Factor) must be high for you to buy SageTV hardware for his birthday.

Honey, I am sorry I foiled your plans. Bad coincidence that I was on the forum on my lunch break right after you posted this. Honestly, I was going to pretend like I never clicked on your post, but that didn't work out either. Darn Sage forum with its over abundance of information about people who are viewing your topic! Oh well, I will still be surprised if you find it in your heart to forgive me for ruining your surprise.
Love ya!
