How to Change Title and Description of Recording?

Hope I'm not abusing the board by posting another question in close succession to the last. If so, apologies in advance.

I have a number of timed recordings that I made before I figured how to get EPG data for the PBS-East HD satellite channel on the AMC21 satellite. These show up on the current recordings list as "Timed Recordings" with the date and time for each on the list. (See my earlier post for how to get EPG for the PBS satellite channels).

I would like to change this to a more useful title, e.g., "Cat in the Hat--8/19/2010" and be able to add a brief description as is done automatically when the EPG is used to schedule a favorite recording--e.g., "Cat takes the children on an airplane ride". I think this latter is what people call "metadata" (??).

Would BMT be a way to accomplish these two things? Is there a way to do it within the standard SageTV without resorting to an plug-in?

Thanks.

Just a reminder to fellow Sage users that there are 10 plus channels of PBS on Ku satellite AMC21 that can be received with a minimal outlay for equipment (less than $200 for mini-dish and PC-satellite receiver card). If you go this route, please be sure to donate to to your local PBS station and mention with your donation that you appreciate their leaving the satellite channels unencripted. We don't want the local stations to feel they are losing support due to the free-to-air satellite transmissions.

I know that you can certainly do this with the Sage Web plugin. If you don't have it installed I would highly recommend it since it also means that you can use it to schedule recordings from any PC on your LAN, or even on the internet if you open up some ports on your router.

Appreciate the suggestion. I installed the latest BMT 4.8 and have opened it through the Web Interface. However, I haven't yet found a way to use it to change video titles and metadata. Could you please do a little handholding on exactly how to accomplish this?

Success!

Initially I assumed you were pointing me to BMT which, as you know, uses a web browser as an interface to Sage. After trying and giving up on BMT, which is very impressive but just doesn't seem to have the particular functionality I was seeking, I realized that you were referring to another plug-in which also accesses Sage data through a web browser, "SageTV Web Interface" as referenced in your post. This did the trick, as you suggested.

For others seeking to use this, it is in the plug-in section of SageTV V.7. Once installed it is accessed through a web-browser by typing http://[put your computer name here]:8080/sage in the command line of your browser. It will ask for a user name, password and the defaults for these are sage and frey.

Once you're in the SageTV Web Interface you can search for the videos you want to work on and change the title as well as add description (metadata). It's a very elegant tool.

Thanks for the help.
