Sage Media Center 7 Doesn't See Network Attached Storage
Hi All,
I have a network attached storage device on my network. With Media Center 6.6 I was able to map the network share to my Media Center server and then select the drive from configuration and map it to the Media Center. Since going to Beta 7 I can nolonger do this. Is there another way or better way to do this than what I have done in the past? Thanks, |

Are you running the SageTV service as an actual user account or local service? You MUST run it with a user account and it must have rights to the share.

Thanks for your response. I am Media Center as a service on my windows machine. The network attached storage has been mapped to my windows box that the media server is running on and has been given all rights and permissions that windows has. Again, nothing has changed from Media Center 6.6 to now, with the exception of Media Center code to Beta 7. I could map the drive to Windows and Media Center would allow me to import it, now that I am running the Beta 7 code, for some reason it doesnt.

Right... when you are running it as a service is it running as LocalSytem or as a User account? It must be as a user account.

Thanks Madpoet, you got me on the right track. It was set to user, to answer your question. However, in the past I was always able to get to NAS device with \\ipaddress\sharename. This just didnt work with Beta 7. I am not saying that this is a problem with Beta 7, just a difference I noticed between Media Center 6.6 and 7.
You did get me thinking about shares though. So I went back into my NAS device and set it specifically for Windows. Once done, the netbios name of the share appeared in my workgroup and I was then able to import into Media Center using the network option and \\Netbios name of the NAS device\share name. Viola! it worked. So thanks! |
