'nother remote question

I'm finally bringing my Sage setup out of the stone age and bought an HD 300 this past week. I didn't purchase the external remote receiver because I had several. I took the time to compare what I had to the pictures shown on the website and some of mine are identical in appearance, and all have the same plug, but no joy on the operation. I really thought these receivers were all pretty much the same. Am I missing something obvious that I should have done to get it working?

Ordered the sagetv one? Seriously, there is actually quite a bit of variance in how it could be wired, and what the receiver actually contains. I also believe there has been discussion on the forums that you have to use the sagetv provided one if you want to use a remote receiver.
