Reinstalling server
I'm experiencing a lot of problems with my setup, including server and client issues, since upgrading from RC1 to RC3. I think a number of them are driver and codec related, though (when I installed RC3, I also installed Elecard 2.2).
In the past, I had roll back to a system restore point when something (I can't remember what, right now) got so screwed up that the system was unusable. I think that may be the long buried root of my problems. Between the point to which I restored, and the point when I executed the restore, I changed sound cards, uninstalled the old drivers, installed the eval version of Elecard 2.1, etc. After the restore, I can't uninstall Elecard 2.1 because the system doesn't know it's installed (not present in add/remove), though Sage was able to use it...go figure, and the old sound card apps still load at start up. The crazy part is that this setup was actually working just fine for at least a month or so. Anyway, my shows are saved on a separate drive from the system. In the beta, are there any files, other than the 3 listed in the FAQ, that I should copy off before flattening the system, and reinstalling the world? I want to be able reinstall the system, drivers, updates, DVD player, codecs, and Sage, copy in the configuration files, and keep all my favorites, recorded show listings, etc. The FAQ lists three, but that's for 1.4. All that for one little question... Thanks, --Mike |

Yep, just copy the properties file which holds all the tuner color and bit rate settings and the wiz.bin which has all your fav and show info in it.
You can format and reinstall and once you have Sage reinstalled, copy these files back to the sage folder and all should be fine. If you are still having issues, it may be also due to a screwed up wiz.bin file, this happened me and I had to delete it and start fresh with all fav and show info, kinda sucked, BUT cured the problems.
