Imdb Lookup for Person failing

Hello Everyone,

Anyone else seeing this issue? It just started happening for me yesterday. I'm assuming it's got something to do with changes imdb has recently made. I can load movie TITLE information, but not PERSON info. I'd imagine nielm_sageimdb.jar would need to be updated to fix this... I'm pretty sure I've got the latest version. (July 6 2009)

To reproduce in "My Videos", select a title then:

Edit Video Info -> IMDB Search

(Select Title)

Cast

(Select Person)

IMDB Read Failed:reading Person:Steve Carell net.sf.sageplugins.sageimdb.DbFailureException: Failed to get details for PersonID /name/nm0136797/ at: net.sf.sageplugins.sageimdb.imdbWebGetPerson.get:261

This happens for any "Person" look-up. People show up in the search results, but when attempting to load the person details the call fails. I get the same behavior with a manual search, title results are fine, but it fails for people.

If I feel really ambitious I might poke through the JAR and see if I can figure out what needs modified... though I might be in over my head...

It's broken. The jar needs to get modified for some changes on the IMDB site.

I peeked inside the .jar -- I could probably reconfigure the scrapes -- but the .class files are binary, and I'm not a java dude, so I've no idea how to safely parse/edit them.

I read elsewhere that the old display format is still supported by modifying the request URL... so it should be an easy fix, just a matter of finding where that particular URL lives.

If someone can point me to a link to the source code (sourceforge only has the compiled .jar -- or perhaps they just need to be decompiled?), I might be able to fix it, though I'd imagine someone more knowledgeable that me will eventually fix it.

I miss the feature, but it's not as critical as if the title lookup was broken.

Looks like I spoke too soon... even though I found a way to edit strings in class files, we're going to have to wait for someone who knows what they're doing, as I've discovered that the url trick:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0892769/combined

that gives you the old-style listing, only works for titles, not people -- so that's probably why the title lookup still even works at all.

There is an updated nielm_imdb.jar file here which fixes the person lookup issue.

Shut down SageTV and replace nielm_imdb.jar in the JARS directory.

Thank You!!! The update works great. I like the new layout now too with TV and Movies separated out, that's a definite bonus.

For anyone interested, I have put a new version here with a fix for displaying Person Roles names correctly rather than <a .....

Just replace the current nielm_sageimdb.jar in the JARS directory
