Newbie Question

I just recently started to us SageTV to play my audio files and I was wondering, where sage gets the album, artist, song name information from. I want to rename them, but simply renaming the mp3's don't help. How would I change the info on the mp3's?

You need to edit the ID3 Tags with a tool like The Godfather or MP3 Tag Tools. That allows you to batch rename, add album art, and other options directly to the MP3 File. Sage then reads and displays that info.

MP3 Tag Tools: http://massid3lib.sourceforge.net/
The Godfather: http://users.otenet.gr/~jtcliper/tgf/

Thank you! One more question...does sage read the id3v1.1 tag or id3v2 tag?

If there is conflicting info, which one does sage take?

I can never remember, but I think it's ID3V2. Both of those programs have an option to batch copy the tag to either format in either direction. So you can simply copy v1 to v2 or vice versa so the same info shows up in any case.

I'm using WMP9 to rip MP3s (usnig Sonic plug-ins) and it allows me to edit the names of pretty much everything (artist, album, song, etc.). I just click on Find Album Info from the Copy CD screen and AMG pulls the album information in as they have it reported (although keep an eye on it, I've found a ton of screw ups). Click the edit button and change what you want. When you've updated everything, click the next button and then finally the finish button. All changes made should appear in the Copy CD screen and then you're ready to rip!

Thank you for all your help!

I was wondering, is there any way to add that kind of information to wma files? Does sage even recognize information in wma files?
