An official word on the plan for MVP support would be nice

I agree with having a TRUE client... However, until Frey develops one, we can only do what we can do... :-(

I have tried BGPVR, and in fact like it... what I want is to be able to actually USE Sage as my PVR solution. I WANT the EPG (Zap2IT supplied...)that Sage uses, rather than the XMLTV guide that is missing quite a bit of data.

I WANT to be able to see my favorites and add new ones as I feel fit... WITHOUT having to go back up to my server.

I want Frey to allow me to access the wiz.bin (that is already being used... by SageTV) and use it. Siiiigghhhhh....

Until those days arrive, it looks like we are stuck doing what we can. We can all wish for those days to come sooner, rather than later, but until they do, then we need to come up with different solutions.

Hi Guys,

I, too, am desperately waiting for word from Jeff or Dan on the MVP. I can understand taking a bit of a 'breather' after the 2.0 release, but I'd really like some kind of confirmation (yea or nay) on wether or not the MVP Client is still on radar.

If it is, I can certainly wait for it. If not, please say so, so that I can ponder what to do with my MVP (I asked for it as a Christmas gift, after hearing Sage was planning a client for it).

I SOOOO MUCH hope that Jeff and Dan can see the value in this little box (no more 350 compatibility worries, for one thing) and how much more popular it will make Sage.

I have not purchased an MVP yet. I was trying to hold for word on the SageTV client first. Do you think the MediaMVP is worth it even without the client? My wife is anxious to be able to view our Sage recorded videos in the bedroom so we don't have to stay up so late.

There is no SDK that I know of. GB-PVR's MVP support was written after reverse engineering the Hauppauge software, and spending many nights analysing the network traffic.

That is awesome! SHS mentioned (or I thought he did) that there is the java sdk and that you used it.

I've definitly not used any SDK, so I dont know where SHS got that from.

It would have been nice if an SDK was available - would have saved me a fair bit of time and effort

What I'm still confused over is that the Frey guys have mentioned before that they HAVE a working client for the MVP written NOW, it just isn't ready for release yet. So, is it still on the radar? If not, is it because of Hauppauge not releasing an SDK?

If the holdup is with documentation of an SDK from Hauppauge, please let us know. That way we could co-ordinate some email pressure on them (Hauppauge) and see if that would help.

As I've said before, I don't mean to put pressure on Jeff and Dan. I'd just like to remove as many road blocks as possible for them so that the release of the 'existing' client could go smoothly.

Can you provide a link to a thread where this was said? I seem to remember Jeff saying "we're all over it"....and that was it.

I was under no impression that anything had actually been developed.

I remember a post saying they got the Sage interface up on the MVP, but they didn't go into detail.

The following quote is from the interview at HTPCNews regarding the 'soon to be released' Sage 2.0. (this was the interview that first showed screenshots of 2.0 in action)
---------------------------
We jump back to the MediaMVP and Dan lets us know:

We already gotten our UI to work on the MediaMVP, the guide works, spoils a little fun but feel free to say something about this. But you can sit on the MediaMVP and do anything you can do on a SageTV client right now.
----------------------------

So, any thoughts on what this says for a MVP Client release?
Anyone's guess is as good as mine.

Yup, a simple confirmation that it is 'in the works' would satisfy me. No need to keep us paying customers in the dark.

I wouldn't even care if I had to buy another client license for it. Hmmm.. or is that why we aren't hearing anything?

Maybe that can't find a way to sell it without everyone pirating it (open source and stuff?) so they aren't going to release it at all... You didn't expect the MVP interface to be FREE did you? I hope not, because I doubt it will be (just my speculation).

HMM...

Jason

I think that most folks would agree on BOTH counts...

1. What is the status... if any?
and
2. Even if we have to buy a client license for the MVP, we are willing to do so!

Working on the BTV mod makes me envious of their use of the EPG and the live tv viewing. I'm more interested in using the EPG to schedule my recordings than the live tv aspect.
