Installing HDPVR on Vista 64 bit?

I get the unknown device thing. I have tried to update driver but it says I have the latest driver.

When you plug in the HD-PVR does windows recognize a new device is attached and ask you for a disk?

I can not get the old driver to uninstall. Every time I plug the USB in, it says an error installing unknown device. I have even tried the clean routine I found on the disk.

What is the OS?

Vista 64 bit
I have downloaded the new zip drivers - I tried the 32 bit inf and it says I have a 64 bit OS. I tried the 64 bit inf and it says something about compatible hardware not found.
I installed on an XP laptop and the install worked fine. It just can't handle the processing required to churn and locked up.

please help. I get the feeling I am about to throw $200 in the trash.
AverMedia just came out with an HD capture device, but I went with this one because of the brand name. I'm thinking I made the wrong choice!

Angry Vista 64 bit install problems

I first installed on an older XP laptop. Install went fine - the laptop can't handle the processing and locks up.
I now tried to install on dual core, mega RAM Vista 64 bit laptop - it found, then error-ed unknown device.
I CAN NOT get the old driver off my laptop. I have tried the clean I found on the disk. Everything I try, when I plug the USB in, it instantly comes up error installing unknown device. There is something somewhere that remembers this thing.
Someone who has a good install on a Vista 64 bit, please tell me how you did it.
I tried to "update driver". It says I have the most current driver for unknown device.

Run hwclear and uninstall your drivers. If you have Vista and UAC enabled (it is by default so if you don't know it is enabled.) then right-click on the setup program and choose "run as administrator".
