MediaTitles.xml failed, how do I see what went wrong?
MediaTitles.xml failed, how do I see what went wrong?
I can't find a log file and the logging page in the web UI is marked advanced -- don't mess. Thanks.

The logs are in the SageTV home directory under the logs/ directory. You'll want to check the phoenix.log.
If MediaTitles.xml has an xml error, then you can probably easily find it out by opening the file in an editor that supports xml... or by opening the file in FireFox or Internet Explorer.

Thanks.
That file doesn't go back far enough. Does the log file get overwritten each time that sage loads? Is there a way to retrigger parsing on a program so that I can test MediaTitles?

yeah, the phoenix.log gets overwritten with sagetv restarts. The MediaTitles.xml is read the first time you try to process a media file. So, if you scan a new file, then it should try to read that file.

I'm trying to figure out why it didn't match.
The log file just says mediafile initialized. How can I see what the match sequence is for a file? Is there any way to retrigger a match to find out why it failed?

The phoenix-metadata.log (in the logs dir as well) has information about each media item scanned, skipped, or failed. (usually one or two lines per item).
Between the phoenix-metadata.log (which is more of a human readable summary log) and the phoenix.log (which is more of a dev log), we should be able to figure out what happened. Feel free to email me the logs at metadatatools at gmail dot com.
