I Havel also verified BMT has these correct dates stored in the "original air date" field.
I am probably not sorting by the date you are seeing in bmt. I don't sort by original air date for movies. Just year I believe.

Second, using "Present to 1900" isnt as simple as just "Release date" and I assume "Newest first"(or "Oldest first") really means "Date Added". Those descriptions are more intuitive. You might have chose these terms because of how you have the "reverse sort order option". But if u get rid of the specificity in your option descriptions ("A to Z", "newest/oldest",etc..)I think it would flow better[/QUOTE]

I am pretty happy with my descriptions

Well folks are allowed to disagree :-) But do you think you can sort by "original air date" ? That date field aligns with the date the movie was released. That way we can have some order within a particular year and get to the content faster(or for various other reasons some ppl might have). I can add to the google code page if u agree...

Ok the issue has been added. I'll try one more time to convince you the sort descriptions need just a little retooling.

If Im a new user, how do I know the difference between "Newest" and "Present to 1900"? It could seem perfectly reasonable that "Newest" will sort on the release date of the movie and not the date it was added to the library. Infact "Newest" might sort some entirely different property. The only hint you have is In the "Present to 1900" description, and that's because I know there were no computers in 1900 and therefore it can't mean the sort property is on the date the movie was added to my library. Yet, this still won't help me truly infer what property the "Newest" option will sort on. it's all about removing the ambiguity that doesn't really have to be there, and making the product better for users.. Let me know if I can help out in any way and I DO appreciate your time and involvement with the this project.

The thing is to change it at this point I have to make it backwards compatible and I still don't agree with your argument fully. The only change I can see is maybe adding "Release" before the year sort.

Yes I think would be great. But you probably can't have multiple views that have different restrictions, ie a view for Home Movies, and a View for Movies that would link directly from the menu?

Looking GREAT!

Question... could you indent the "Rated:PG" text on the focused item so that the Movie title stands out more?

I love a good compromise! Let's see what options I can come up with.. The first option for each listed I personally think is the best, but it's not all about me...

"Year Present to 1900" == "Newest Release date" or "Released Present to 1900"
"Year 1900 to Present" == "Oldest Release date" or "Released 1900 to Present"

"Newest First" == "Newly Added" or "Newly Added to Library"
"Oldest First" == "Oldest Added" or "Oldest Added to Library"
