Ahh... ok, that makes sense now. I always like the picture of a lock that some themes had in V6. I actually carried them over with me to V7, since I got so used to them.

I'm not sure I see the purpose for the season drilldown. Think about a show like Law & Order with 20 seasons. Why would someone want to scroll through all of the seasons and then scroll through the episodes? I think someone said this could be useful for multiple people watching a series at different times. How would you know which season you left off on with this method, though?

I'm trying to understand how someone would use this, since I can't think of one for my situation.

I like the season drilldown method. I can't say why... just the way my brain works, organizationally. I'd rather it be organized in a "tree" like that, than hundreds of episodes in one big list.

But I do see Skirge's point, about being able to see "where you were" if you were working your way through every episode, in order. I guess I'd rather just have to remember on my own.

I guess it would work differently for different people. In your example of Law and Order knowing which pair of detectives or the DA you're looking for would lead you to looking in earlier or later seasons. Let's face it-if you had all 20 seasons that alot of scrolling no matter what. To be honest I can't think of a time when in Sage that I was looking for a particular season, episode or episode title. We do it the simple way-watched vs. not watched. When they get all watched they get deleted. Our house isn't into long term recording storage.

It's probably the whole "Windows filesystem" mentality we've all grown accustomed to, where everything had to be organized in folders. We want things to be in an order we feel is logical. But, I think we can all agree that, in many ways, Windows is anything but. That's something they're trying to fix with the "favorites", "libraries", and "virtual store" areas. They don't want us to care where the files are actually located in the file system, which is a good move, but takes a lot of time to retrain ourselves.

I definitely would have an issue with it (to Gerry's point) if I had to scroll through 20 seasons as I got through season 20. But, that's where the watched flag comes in and having it jump to the last watched or first unwatched episode in the entire listing would come in. And, when I was on about season 15 is when I asked razr how to do such a thing in TVE. I grew tired of holding the page down button for 5 seconds every time.

Plucky, I have to say, just looking at the various screenshots throughout this thread, you have a LOT of recorded TV. A. LOT.
(not that there's anything wrong with that)

Yeah, really. I thought I had a lot, but Plucky probably has me beat, hands down. Kinda makes me feel good that I'm not the worst hoarder of TV.

So this is a list of what is done and ready hopefully I covered the basics
  • Add option to remove Title from Episode screen (now at top)
  • Added option to show banners instead of text
  • Added optional season drilldown
  • Changed headers to better fit new options
  • Add filter for playon
  • Add filter for imported tv
  • added option to include playon or imported in the "all" option
  • Add option to show season/episode number in episode list (if drilling down by season just shows episode # and season on header)
  • Add option to remove movies and show them under the videos tab

All the added filters should work with all the other tv filters (ie watched etc etc) and should be able to do custom views (although I don't know how you do this.)

Nice feature set hopefully people will enjoy

I go on tangents...

The movie view isn't done just yet and will be very basic (ie no grouping or anything) just show your videos/movies and allow pathfilterexpression and sort order and watched filters.

Wow that didn't sound very basic but it is

Basic to you maybe. I've seen what you "little" projects turn into. Again, not complaining.
