I don't get 1080p with HD300, only 1080p24???
Yesterday I replaced my 2 HD200s with 2 HD300s. (Just as an aside, I swapped the power supply, ethernet cable, and the HDMI cable with the ones that came with the HD300s.)
When I set the HD300s to do "1080p", my TV reports "No Signal", which is odd - "1080p24" works fine. This happens on both of my TVs which are Samsung LN40A630 and LN37A550 (both couple years old). I haven't spent too much time on this (yet), but the very first thing I noticed is that picture quality is much inferior when compared to HD200, while I watch HDTV (Recorded or Live) shows at 1080p24. Yes, I have the "Native Resolution Switching" disabled, because I abhor the 3 second pauses that occur during the switching. Using 1080i instead of 1080p24 produces watchable picture quality, but I don't get why I can't get my TV & HD300 to work with 1080p. (I haven't tried to watch DVDs, Blu-Rays, MP4, MKVs, yet) Some one pass me a clue? |

I can't help with the 1080p I am guessing your tv doesn't support it or the extender is not synching with it. |

1080p60 is not really a common format, so I wouldn't be surprised if your set couldn't do it.

Is 1080p60 what the 1080p option in Sage actually translates to?

I did some more testing and found that:
On my Samsung LN40A630 TV, I was able to get 1080p using the HDMI cable included with the HD300, but every now and then (from few seconds to few minutes), it would lose sync and has to re-sync. There doesn't seem to be any pattern on when it has to re-sync - it's just annoying since the TV screen goes blank every time it does that. On my Samsung LN37A550 TV, it plainly will not connect at 1080p (but it will work OK with 1080p@24). In both cases, I solved the problem by replacing the HDMI cables included with the HD300s with the HDMI cables I used before with my HD200s. Now both HD300s can connect reliably at 1080p, as well as 1080i, 1080p@24, 720p, and 480p. So, the HDMI cables that came with the HD300s are not "compatible" with the 2-year old Samsung TVs that I have - if anyone has a similar problem, they should try using a different HDMI cables. (BTW, I do not know if my working HDMI cables are the ones that came with my HD200s, the ones that came with my HD100s, or the ones I purchased from 3rd party such as Amazon). I hope this information is helpful to any one who purchases HD300s in the future. |

:-) Well, *I* think so. (But I'm not an expert on these things) |

Sounds like the hd300 had some dud hdmi cables. There really isn't such a thing as incompatible cables with a certain tv that I am aware of. I would definately at least let sagetv know.

PluckyHD is correct that the HDMI cables you received are bad. It has nothing to do with the cables not being compatible with your Samsung tv. Did you try and see if the cables work on anything else (receiver, computer monitor)?

No - I suppose I could try using these cables on something else but I don't know what that would tell me. These cables obviously work fine with my TV and HD300s except at 1080p (I suppose it might work fine at 1080p with HD200s or my PS3 or anything else for that matter - but who cares). Since I've already fixed my problem, I don't wish to spend any more time on this; I have lots of spare HDMI cables I can use.

That's weird. I guess I'm seeing this too. I just received my hd300 today and when connected to my Samsung Ln46A650, I had a "mode not supported" displayed on my tv when I selected 1080p, that's also with the stock HDMI cable.
I unplugged the power of the hd300 and it went back to 720x480 something and I was able to selected 1080i ok. I swapped the stock hdmi cable out for a monoprice cable and now I'm getting 1080p just fine. |

Just something to keep in mind for people who are just starting to receive their HD300s (and have some what older TV sets) in the next few days. I'm quite happy with the HD300s now. |

There are different types of HDMI cables:-
http://www.hdmi.org/learningcenter/faq.aspx#49 http://www.hdmi.org/learningcenter/kb.aspx?c=7#50 so maybe the Sage one's are "Standard" and with some kit this causes issues?

I wanted to chime in and throw my observations about 1080p@60 and why I DON'T think it is the HDMI cable. I replaced my HD200 in the family room with an HD300 and put the 200 in the bedroom. I have all the cables except the power the same.
When I select 1080p@60 for the resolution like I have always done, I get little white line flickering artifacts all over my Sammy plasma. It works, but something ain't right. I switched back to 1080i and it seems to work fine. The HDMI cable that came with the 300 works fine in 1080p@60 mode on my 200 in the bedroom. mmmm..... |

Yeah, could very well be a signal strength issue on the HD300 HDMI driver, so with some cables it may not work as well as the HD200. Just speculation though, as I don't use extenders.. ;-)

I haven't had any issues at all but I only have 1080p on my projector. Most of the blu rays of course are native 24fps but the ones that aren't have worked fine without issues. Of course I only use a small 1' cable for that connection direct to a hdmi 1.3 receiver.
