How to tell if I'm in Overlay
I've been using VMR9 for quite some time (forced due to overlay problem with video card ) and just tried switching back to overlay (new video card ) to avoid tearing issues. I'm still back using .15 software.
My question is should I still be seeing the see-thru menus in overlay? I have set the detailed setup to choose overlay mode, and have set everything else to default (and 3D to disabled -- what does this do anyway..), but I still can pull up the OSD and see the video moving underneath. I thought that only worked in VMR9. I checked and I don't think I have any leftover registry settings that are forcing VMR9. Am I in overlay, and if not any ideas how to get there? Thanks heckheck PS I looked for 10 minutes to find tearing while switching back and forth, but didn't see anything overt enough to know for sure. I think I saw some in both modes, leading me to question if I'm really in overlay. Hard to tell, since I just switched video cards to a ATI9600SE, and I'm not sure what tearing will look like with this card. |

Yes, you can have transparent menus using overlay, but the transparency seems to be all or nothing. With VMR9, you can have partial transparency.
