SageMC and HD 200Does it work oke?

Hello

I have been using Sage TV for several years. (First install goes back to Sage V2!1)
Now running Sage V6.x, Sage MC to great satisfaction and considering to get HD 200. (when the HD 200 or HD 300? become available again!!)
Searched forum whether Sage MC runs on HD 200 as this is definitely what I want, but did not get clear picture whether it runs without problems.

Does it run oke?
If there are limitations, what these?
Where can I find exact install instructions

Sorry if this has been posted before but I could not find it

Thanks for help

It runs perfectly fine on the HD200. Look in the SageMC sub-forum or the downloads section for install instructions and the file to download. It's very way to install.

Just a word of caution. I installed it when I first got my HD200 & it trashed the box, so I couldn't reload the default UI. Fortunately, I found a post that explained how to edit the HD200 properties file on the server to stop it loading SageMC & I was able to recover. I then tried an earlier SageMC version, 6.3.9b_23, & that worked OK. I'm still on firmware 200909030, which is the current released (ie non-beta) version. When I raised the issue with Sage support, I was told that SageMC UI was not supported on the HD200because it wasn't a Sage development!

I have run SageMC on my five HD-200 extenders without ever having any issues. I used to use Sage6 and have now upgraded to Sage7 and I still run SageMC.

So you are installing it to replace the interface while using the HD200 in a standalone fashion, rather than as an extender for a SageTV server.

willemse, was this your use case, or as an extender? I use it as an extender, so keefb's problem is not possible in that situation.

Tchapin,

I am not sure how to respond as I do not have the HD yet but just got a new HD TV. I used SD TV with S-video connection to Sage system.
I am looking at either a HD 200 to be used as extender to existing Sage system or a TVXI M6600 as standalone. However my preference goes to HD given the Sage system connection and Sage MC UI.

I assume it possible to use both modes, stand alone and extender without a lot of hassle (WAF!!1)

Appreciate your comments/experiences

Hi willemse,

The HD200 can also act as a standalone device for people that don't have a Sage server.

If you have a Sage server, then getting the HD200 (when it comes back in stock) is a no-brainer.

The HD200 can have different interfaces installed on it when it's acting as a standalone device. keefb put SageMC on it and he says it caused him problems.

However, when the HD200 is acting like an extender, like your MVP does, it grabs the interface settings from your server and this cannot cause you problems like keefb had.

You can certainly use the standlone mode fairly easily. I don't know why you would if you have a sage server though.

Hi Todd

Tks for your reply
One question remains: I use Sage system now and when not in “use” it goes in sleeping mode. When Sage system is in sleeping mode and no reason for me to "power-up" I want to use the HD 200 with local disc ( or 300?) in stand alone with Sage MC as UI.
This possible as I understand it???

The HD200 is only going to be able to use the SageMC UI as a Sage server client. If you bring the HD200 up in standalone mode. (you need to do a cold power up) it will no longer be able to use the SageMC UI. It will use the default HS200 interface and will be able to pull media from the attached local drive.
