Quick Question,, on PVR 350 resize

Hi,
just got my PVR 350 BUT the screen on the hardware output is too big for tv screen? How can I change this? Seems like it might be outputting at PAL resolution instead of NTSC?
Help
Patrick

Are you referring to the OSD? If so, go into the detailed setup and under the video options should be a setting for changing the overscan of the OSD. I can't tell you exactly well since I don't have the screen in front of me right now.

Is the OSD and the picture,, looks more like a PAL resolution even though it definately is marked an NTSC card.
Even output from the WinTV software the picture is going off the edges, is there a driver fix for this? Anyone else notice this?

Karen, very welcome.

Patrick, I don't think the problem is PAL vs. NTSC. The output of the 350 is fixed at 720x480 for the NTSC boards. PAL resolution is 720x576 at 25 fps . If your 350 is pumping out PAL it shouldn't display at all correctly on your TV. A PAL signal would probably cause a flickering display on your NTSC TV since the signal is coming through at 50 hertz and the NTSC TV is expecting 60.

Doing a direct comparison between the output on the video card against the output of the PVR 350, it looks like it is zoomed in slightly, the screen is missing about an inch all round of the picture displayed on the TV. Can someone else check theirs to see if it does the same? I don't think PVR 350 has any zoom feature and as I said it displays the same on WinTV 2000 also, so it is not Sage specific.

Patrick, as Spanky mentioned above, there is an Overscan Adjustment option in detailed settings that will allow you to adjust the top-left and bottom-right position of the OSD so that it will look right on your TV.

Is not the OSD, I have that adjusted, I am wondering is it that the NTSC and PAL cards have same output. I know that with composite output from a dvd player it can display PAL dvds.
This is the screen itself, the picture is cropped compared to the same output from video card, not stretched, cropped, video card output shows more picture.

Patrick, make sure Sage is set to output in 4x3 mode (if your tv is a 4:3 tv). This will cause output to your computer monitor to have black bars on the side, but to fill the tv correctly.

I was experiencing problem where the output to the tv was larger that what was being displayed. Basically anything on the sides of the playback was not being seen on the tv but was being seen in Sage (on the computer monitor). So in setup I switch my video source mode from fill to source to 4x3 and it solved the problem. I'm not at home so I can't get the exact wording but I'm pretty sure that is the other video problem you are having (aside from OSD).

Ok.. have done a pile of testing and the PVR 350 is cropping the tv picture, when I flick between video card output and the pvr350 output it shows there is missing parts of the picture the whole way around. By selecting 4:3 it squishes the picture horizontally but the vertical remains cropped. The output definately seems like the picture being outputted is larger than the tv screen, as I said earlier, it is like being zoomed in very slightly.
Has no one else noticed this? Or is there a screw up with the drivers somewhere? My TV is a Panasonic 32" tv and it handles every other input perfect, I route through a Home Theater amp but also tried direct and it is the same way...

I see the same overscan you see Patrick, I just ignore it. TV's tend to overscan and PC's underscan. The question is, if you compare the 350 to live TV (bypassing SageTV), are you seeing less of the picture with the 350 than with the standard tuner?
