dual pvr 250's
well, I recieved my second pvr250 and beyond TV ^3 software in the mail tonight an I got the software installed for apparently only one card, when I ran the matrox card in DVD-max mode the screen was horriblely mpeg'd (squares) with a coloured mess on the bettom of the tv screen. I guess what I need to know is how to install a double set of the driver software for both of the cards or perhaps all of the driver action is done through the wdm layer of the sage software (RC1) I'm not new to pvr's nor multiple vender tv cards in the same machine but having both of them being the same, one a first or second generation card and the other a model that is as current as it can get. I power read through the manual and I'm going to sit up yet tonight with my migraine and read throguh it verb by noun by pronoun and hopefully I'll be able to answer my own question. I ordered a 9800 XT with built in mpeg2 that I am going to put into the editing machine and the ati card (9200 sapphire if memory serves) into the pvr machine. I have a monitor and the TV hooked up for the build up of the system and with it only being 8" I can leave it on the system without cluttering up the room too much. (IBM 'portable' vga monitor, works pretty sweet well, I would like to be able to have two channels on the monitor or one on each sort of like a Pricture in a pricture type thing. if there's a FAQ or something to steer me to please do. right now I feel like I'm up against a brick wall sorry about all the smileys but I wanted to see how they looked in a message. |

Just my two cents, but I noticed you bought the new "250" through SnapStream, are you certain that it is in fact a 250? Snapstream is selling Roslyn cards (model 28xxx) as 250s when in fact they are not 250s. Roslyn cards are based on the Blackbird design and use a different driver set then a true 250 (either Sag (model 48xxx) or Amity (model 32xxx), so the two cards may not play nice in the same system. If you do in fact have a Roslyn it is supposed to be supported in SageTV 2 but you may need help from Frey support to get it to work.

It sounds like it could also be a mixed type 15 with type 16 250 card issue. You should compare your image with the one in Mixed Hauppauge Card bug - Example .

If it is a case of running an older 15 chip 250 (48xxx) with a newer 16 chip 250 (32xxx) you can try either the SVCD ELP workaround, which is okay if you leave your machine up and running for days since it needs to be aplied after every reboot, or you can contact Frey support to see if they will give you the beta drivers Hauppauge gave them for running the two different chipsets in the same system.
