Phoenix Screen Shot Sneak Peak

Does Phoenix really exist?

We'll be posting a few sneak peaks and discussing Phoenix design and UI philosophy from time to time. Here's the first.

This is the TV show list view. All of these are subject to tweaking and change - so please don't point at this picture when Phoenix is released and say "I wanted it to look like that!"

I still don't think it really exists. I need more.

Looks amazing Bialio!!! Any chance this screen incorporates TV that isn't just recordings, such as episodes ripped from disks? Also any chance a follow up Screenshot could show the next screen when Arrested Development is selected?

Shouldn't REALLY be an issue, since the BMT/Phoenix API can import those vids to the recordings database...

Agreed, its possible but they aren't recordings so why mess with the wiz.bin file if this screen like TVE can display both transparently.

I'm really liking the look! I like the shaded transparency and the more contemporary title bar. Just a suggestion, instead of displaying the list of shows under the title (which I don't think is neccessary, is there the possiblility of having a metadat blurb about the actual show? Episodic content is available at the next button press anyways.

Keep it up, and now that you have teased us, we will be on you even more..

Project Phoenix, Project Ortus and MyMovies. Three more reasons to be excited about SageTV 7. Keep the good news (and screen-shots) coming!

Its not messing with the wiz.bin. imports are stored ikn the same database as recordings. the ONLY difference is the ID number oprefix. the UIK filters by this prefix to determine whether or not to show an iktem in the recordings, or imports section. All BMT does is change the MF(mediafile) prefix, to an EP (episode). In my mind, that makes more sense anyway.

That's perfect. If I can choose whether my media file is TV (whether actually recorded or ripped from a disc) or Movie (whether a DVD, BD or recorded from TV) and allowed to have a SEPARATE screen (menu item) for each I would be very happy. Allowing me to create a menuitem that filters to any or multiple import directories would be perfect!

Wait, I do that now with v6.6

Hi Everyone,

Here's a little bit of background info on the screen shot that bialio posted. The screen is what we have called the Universal Media Browser (or UMB). It is used for the display of all your media using our own implementation of a virtual file system. The View (media content, filtering, sorting, and grouping) is defined in an external xml file. To invoke the UMB with a specific View, you would set up a dynamic menu item (again our own implementation) that calls that view and then loads the UMB menu. There is a view selector from within the UMB to switch views and we are working on a menu to allow you to modify views from within the UMB as well.

There's more info (and more screen shots) to come over the next couple of weeks so stay tuned.

Aloha,
Mike

It sounds like what you are saying is that we can define our own filters on this screen? By directory? If so, I'm LOVIN IT!

Does Team Phoenix have any sort of tentative timeline for release?

It looks like you can get a glimpse of what the VFS can do u the BMT web UI's Browse feature. It's a virtual folder structure, where you can get to a given video a couple different ways (Genre, Type, etc).

Yes, BMT uses the Phoenix VFS. In fact the views you see in BMT are some of the default views for Phoenix as well.

Aloha,
Mike

Here's a shot of the weather screen. This is still being tweaked a bit, but it's pretty close to its final form.

Aloha,
Mike
