Malore Menus

I can't for the life of me figure out how to use Malore Menus with the standard STV3. I only see references to the Save MC version. Where is the download for STV3?

I am also getting confused with the references to Media Center versions of the STV. Isn't SageTV called the SageMC?

Also, where is that plugin that puts the diskspace used at the top of the screen?

Many many years ago, the Malore Menues were an add-on customization (written by someone with the user name "Malore"). But for the last few years, they have been built into the standard SageTV3 STV. However, they are considered an "unsupported extra" you need to enter a "secret code" to enable them.

This post explains how to enable the unsupported extras (Just go to the System Info Screen and type 5309 on your remote. You will see a little dot appear near the top of the screen and there will be more setups available in the detailed setup menu.

SageMC is an alternate STV written by a group of people to replace the SageTV3.STV file. When it was first released, its goal was to make Sage look like the old Windows Media Center Edition. That's why they called it SageMC.

Yes, this is a bit confusing, since technically, the full name of Sage's flagship product is "SageTV Media Center."

Since SageMC is an alternate STV, many of the imports written to work with the standard SageTV3.STV will not work with SageMC. Since SageMC is such a popular STV, there are many imports written specifically to work with it (of course these imports will not work with the standard SageTV3.STV). There is a Malore Menus import that is still available that works only with SageMC.

And just in case it's not already clear, an STV is like a super-skin. It is a XML file that defines the User Interface (UI). It controls how the menus and other screens in Sage look and also how they behave. I say it's a super skin, because in most programs that have skins, the skin just changes the look a little (different colors, different fonts, different background pictures, etc.), but an STV file goes further since it actually defines how things work.

An STVi or "import" imports on top of an STV to change how it works or add some new feature.
