I just tried this with no luck. Here is what happens for me:

I pull the power and reboot the HD200. Everything starts to load up just fine. My TV displays the SageTV splash screen, and then the next screen where it says Sage TV is starting up.

During all that time, if I hit any of the buttons on the remote, the little red light on the front of the HD200 flashes. (it recognizes me pressing buttons)

After the startup screen is on for a bit, it goes blank, my TV (Dell flatscreen) goes blank, and none of the buttons on my remote work (the little red light on the HD200 no longer flashes if I press a button)

And that is where my HD200 sits right now, in that hung up state. Nothing happens when I press the Video or any of the other buttons.

Oh, I'm using the Component Video connection (red/blue/green HD cables)

Been having very similar problem sometimes. Not had time to really try to problemsolve. But what usually get my HD200 up and running again is pulling the power on it AND the network cable. Then letting it start up in offline/stand-alone mode (wait until interface for offline is up and running). Put in the network cable. Let it get it's IP (if DHCP, takes a little time). Then I go into "server" section where I can connect to my SageTV server. At that point, it manages to connect and get up and running.

Now, this might have nothing to do with this specific situation. Just a tip.

I posted the forum message about 1080i not working with the 20100709 firmware - I have since updated to the 20100712 firmware and my 1080i issue was resolved... Not seeing any other issues at this time but I've not had time to mess with the extenders anymore beyond the basics..

I'm now updating to 201007130 and will give that a try. Good thing I waited until today to try this - I would have been a little pissed off if I ended up having to do the testing twice.

Ok, this version is working as expected, so far over two reboots. I can switch to any of the default video modes and they all come up properly over HDMI. The other fix here is that the video modes are now once again listed in the correct order, from lowest to highest. With the previous firmware they were all shuffled up.

Thanks Demo, will do. I also tried 0712 firmware on this particular TV and had no luck. I then reverted to the older beta from May and all is well again. 720p etc works.

This happened to me the other day, while I was watching a show it went black. It recognized me pushing buttons, but no audio or video output.

I have both the Component Video and RCA cables (red, white, yellow) outputting simultaneously, and the RCA didn't stop working, only the Component.

I pulled the cables out and re-inserted them and it started working again. I don't know if that will help you, but its worth a try.

So, I'm still stuck in la la land with a bricked box. Anyone have any tips on how to get it up and running? People keep saying to install the newer software. But how do I do that without being able to see what going on on the the screen??

Thanks Gerry, I did read that thread before but my HD200 is a standalone box so that procedure won't work for me

What are you connected to video wise? If you can find an old tv with either a composite or s-video output connect it to that. Then use the video-out button to cycle thru it. You should be able to get something on screen.

When all else fails, try this as a last resort:

I'm connected through high def composite cables (the R/G/B cables) but I just hooked it up with an s-video cable. Same thing, the unit boots up but as it's starting to load it hangs up, the screen goes blank, and pressing buttons on the remote no longer is recognized by the unit.

Helen, thanks for the info. I'll try that as a last resort. But seriously, can a Sage TV rep come in here and give me some advice? Should I start a new thread? How can their not be some option just to load a new version of the release software on a thumb drive and plug it into the USB and have it auto load or something????

There is an Option 1 (if I remember) which allows you to load from USB.

Yeah there is, but that option assumes you have video output from your HD200 and that you can go in and select to install the software update via USB instead of over the internet. My box is totally bricked so I can't do that.

In this case Helen's recommendation would work for you. A quick install of the SageTV trial on any PC and drop the .bin file in the SageTV directory should get you there. If you choose not to do that then email Sage Support. That's your only choice left AFAIK.

In your case it doesn't seem to be a video output issue if the box doesn't recognize the remote control events. You could try to do the settings reset by holding delete on the remote as you connect power. If that doesn't work the only other option is to do the restore from a SageTV server.

I spoke too soon.

The firmware I had previously tested (201007130 ) may have been "better" than it had been before, but it's not problem free. The issue seems to be that the box will not output correctly on some reboots only.

I've already seen a complete loss of anything other than 480 twice today.

Will update to the even newer firmware and report back once that's had some testing.
