Stéphane,

I unregistered the mdapifilter.ax (received a pop up confirming it was unregistered) and then regestered it with:-

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\regsvr32 mdapifilter.ax

and as before this prompted a dialogue box to pop up saying that the file (mdapifilter.ax) has been registered. So I set the recorder to MDAPI, restarted the recorders and tried again:-
Code:

This error 0x80040154 means that the filter is not registered. So the only option left is that you have not registered the filter with administrator privileges, and as such it registred in the virtual registry store.

For registering the filter properly, you must open a command prompt with admin privileges. To do this, type "cmd" in the Start Menu, then right click on the "Cmd" that appears in the list and choose "Run as Administrator"...

Stéphane,

I have done exactly as you have said but I keep getting the same error.

Each time I register or unregister the mdapifilter.ax I get the correct pompt and I have been running "cmd" as an administrator.

I have registered and unregistered this file over and over again but no luck, the only thing I have not done is a system restart but I'm not sure that would help?

I want to get this sorted, is there another way I can double check the file has been correctly registered or perhaps double check I have the correct file?

Thanks,

David

When I fixed the MDAPFilter (the one included in the recorder plugin directory) I have not registered it. So what you can do is : replace the MDAPIFilter.ax by the one you can download on the DVBN forums, register it, then replace it by the one I included.

Otherwise the filter should register here (on a 32 bits system):

HKCR\CLSID\{72E6DB8F-9F33-4D1C-A37C-DE8148C0BE74}

on 64 bits it should be something like:

HKCR\WOW6432node\CLSID\{72E6DB8F-9F33-4D1C-A37C-DE8148C0BE74}

Stéphane,

Here is a copy of a screen print that looks like it has registered?

I think this is showing the file as registered?

I have also tried it registered in other locations such as the C:\Program Files (x86)\LM Gestion\LM DVB Smart Recorder\MDPLUGINS\

Let me know what you think,

David

Well this is how I did it:

1) I created a folder C:\Program Files\MDAPI (you should do it in C:\Program Files(x86) to be safe)

2) I downloaded the files from DVBN and extracted the mdapifilter.ax and all ms visual c++ dll into that folder (mfc80.dll, *.manifest, msvc*.dll)

3) I registered the mdapifilter.ax in this folder (with Administrator elevated privileges)

4) I replaced the mdapifilter.ax by the one I fixed...

Have you changed the account used by the LM DSR Service? Have you set up LM DSR so that it is installed for "All Users" (sometimes selecting with "just for me" can cause issues)? Can you check that the LM DSR Service is running as a 32 bits process?

Regards,
Stéphane.

Stéphane,

I will have another go when I get back from work this evening, I will probably start from scratch by unregistering the MDAPIFilter and then uninstall the your plugin.

I have all of the files you are referring to and I installed them with a batch file that set up a folder the same as you describe. I did also try something very similar to what you are describing but maybe I missed something.

Once I have tried from a clean install we can see what happens and I'll let you know how I get on.

Also in answer to your question:-

"Have you changed the account used by the LM DSR Service? Have you set up LM DSR so that it is installed for "All Users" (sometimes selecting with "just for me" can cause issues)? Can you check that the LM DSR Service is running as a 32 bits process?"

I can't remember if it was set up for all users, I normally do select for all users but I can't remember so a clean install should tick that box.

Fingers crossed it will sort it's self out.

Thanks for the help,

David

Stéphane,

I think I must have tried everything now, all seems to be in order but it still does not work (for me) with MDAPI selected on the recorder.

"Can you check that the LM DSR Service is running as a 32 bits process?"

I'm not sure how to do this but in the Windows Task Manager the "LM DVB Smart Recorder Service.exe" does not have "*32" after it so I am not sure, if it was running in 32 bit I think it should have "*32" after the name of the service so I suppose this could be the problem?

Has anyone who is running Windows 7 64bit previously managed to get the MDAPI element to work.

David

Still the same error in the logs?

Usually yes, it should have the *32 in the name for the recorder service. So it's my fault... the service is running as 64 bits! I'm very surprised that you can make it run correctly when not using MDAPI (are you really able to tune and record something???)

So, I'll issue an update shortly that correctly put the service in 32 bits only (you can write me directly at lmgestion@hotmail.com and I'll send you a fixed version)

Regards,
Stéphane.

Stéphane,

The recorder does appear to run fine when not in MDAPI and yes I can tune and record channels.

Yes I get the same error message as before.

Thanks,

David

I sent you the build that force the service to be 32 bits, have you received it?

Stéphane,

Yes received and working great, many thanks for all your help.

I have been playing around with the MDPlugins element but I have not had any real success yet.

I can get various plugins to function and I can view the logs to see what is going on but I can't get them to work properly yet, I have had some limited success with AcamD but it is still not working correctly.

Has anyone else had a go at the MDPlugins?

Thanks again,

David

And have you been using these plug-ins with another DVB software before with success? Because as I can't use myself any of these plug-ins I cannot check if I'm doing the right thing or not...

Stéphane.

Stéphane,

Yes I have used the plugins in the same configuration with DVBViewer and I have also tested them with other DVB software so I know the plugins work OK.

I have also tried NDSCam which works in the same configuration with DVB Enhancer as a SageTV network player.

Thanks,

David

Have you copied the FFDecsa.dll into the Program Files\LM Gestion\DVB Smart Recorder directory?

You can also enable logging for the MDAPFilter.ax, open the MDAPIFilter.ini (in the MDPLUGINS folder) to enable the logs and change the log level.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Stéphane,

Yes I have got the FFDecsa.dll in

Program Files (x86)\LM Gestion\DVB Smart Recorder

I have also tried setting the MDAPIFilter.ini to

logenabled=true

but I do not seem to get a log?

Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks,

David

The logs should be in C:\ProgramData\LM Gestion\LM DVB Smart Recorder\MDAPIFilter.log (if it is set like this in the MDAPIFilter.ini)

Sometimes you need to restart the LM DSR Service for applying the changes made in MDAPIFilter.ini.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Stéphane,

I am not getting a log file although I have changed the mdapifilter.ini files to show logenabled=true

There are several MDAPIFilter.ax and MDAPIFilter.ini files kicking around my system so I have changes all of them:-

C:\Program Files (x86)\LM Gestion\LM DVB Smart Recorder\MDPlugins\MDAPIFilter.ini
C:\Program Files (x86)\MDAPI\MDPlugins\MDAPIFilter.ini
C:\Program Files (x86)\MDAPI\MDPlugins\MDPlugins\MDAPIFilter.ini
C:\ProgramData\LM Gestion\LM DVB Smart Recorder\Plugins\MDAPI\MDPlugins\MDAPIFilter.ini

These all show logenabled=true

I believe my registered MDAPIFilter.ax is registered to:-

C:\Program Files (x86)\MDAPI\MDAPIFilter.ax

I am a little confused, do I only need the registered MDAPIFilter.ax file and which MDAPIFilter.ini file do I need.

The whole MDAPIFilter.ini file looks like this:-

Code:
[Main]

#Enable File Logging
logEnabled=true

#LogLevels: 1=Error/2=WARN/3=INFO/4=DEBUG/5=VERBOSE
logLevel=3

#Log File Location
logFile=.\MDPlugins\MDAPIFilter.log

#FFDeCSA
ffdecsa=.\FFDecsa.dll

#Activates global 184 mode
mode184=true

#Decryption is only attempted when a key is present
decryptOnKeyOnly=false

#Decrypts all scrambled TS Packets... Increases CPU Load!. Not recommended..
decryptAllTS=true

#Block scrambled TSPackets from reaching TSWriter - Can also be used to avoid scrambled detection.(Is a little too quick now a days)
blockScrambledTSPacket=false

#Raw dump TS Packets
rawDump=false

#The MDAPIFilter acts as CardClient
actAsCardClient=true
Thanks,

David

All you need is one MDAPIFilter.ax (You should put it here : C:\Program Files (x86)\MDAPI\MDAPIFilter.ax, along with the MS dll)

Then you will have a MDAPIFilter.ini per application using the filter in an MDPLUGINS subfolder. For LM DSR it will be in C:\Program Files\LM Gestion\LM DVB Smart Recorder\MDAPIFilter.ini

Code:
[Main]

#Enable File Logging
logEnabled=true

#LogLevels: 1=Error/2=WARN/3=INFO/4=DEBUG/5=VERBOSE
logLevel=3

#Log File Location
logFile=.\MDPlugins\MDAPIFilter.log
This is not correct, the logFile should have been C:\ProgramData.... if LM DSR was initially started with the MDAPIFilter.ax I included.

So I suggest that you unregister MDAPIFilter, reboot. Delete all MDAPFilter.ax file except the one I include with LM DSR (in C:\ProgramData..\Plugins), copy this .ax filter into C:\Program Files (x86)\MDAPI, then register it.

The delete the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\LM Gestion\LM DVB Smart Recorder\MDPLUGINS". Then use LM DSR to tune to a free to air channel, it will correctly create the MDPLUGINS folder and MDAPIFilter.ini (which you can edit to enable log) and also a Plugins folder for your capture card.

Regards,
Stéphane.

Stéphane,

I will give this a go but before I start can I just check something:-

Quote:
For LM DSR it will be in C:\Program Files\LM Gestion\LM DVB Smart Recorder\MDAPIFilter.ini
At the moment I do not have the folder:-

C:\Program Files\LM Gestion\LM DVB Smart Recorder\MDAPIFilter.ini

I do have the folder:-

C:\Program Files (x86)\LM Gestion\LM DVB Smart Recorder\MDAPIFilter.ini

Are you saying that the first time I run the MDAPIFilter.ax it will create this missing folder or should I create this missing folder manually.

I am asking the question as the install did not create a "C:\Program Files\LM Gestion\LM DVB Smart Recorder\" folder last time round?

Thanks,

David
