That particular multiplier was eSata in, 5xSata out. They come in many differeng flavors, and yes, they can be daisychained. However, all devices end. Up sharing the one host channel, potentially hurting performance. Id personally use that double esata backplane adapter, and send two holst channels to the external box, then use two of the multipliers to get up to 10 drives in there.

Thanks again: The 2 out solution makes sense and is manageable cable wise. 10 HDs would be 8 additional ones. At 2TB each, that's potentially another 16TB !

i think it is almost 6 months ago i switched to a NAS. i ran with local storage before, but decided consolidating my data was a good thing.

I have a QNAP 809 with 8x2 TB drives. Something like 13 TB or so in RAID 5. Sage records directly to it, all my movies, music, photos are all on there. My laptop, my wife's laptop and the Sage server all have their TimeMachine backup on it. Works great. I can record 4xATSC (HD) streams and watch another without trouble.

it is kind of cool that all my data needs fit (with plenty of air space) in one square of my expedit. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40047675

I have a more modest setup. A Synology DS209 can take 2 x 2 tb disk. I have all my movie and tv series there as well as my music. Currently having only 1x 1.5tb disk with 300 gb free. I actually dont use sagetv to watch and record tv but only as a HTPC software.

Uggg.. Still no response from the Lime-Tech people.

Almost 1 month has passed. Guess they don't want my business.

And I was going to buy 2 systems too. Oh well.

When I purchased my unRaid key everything went quite quickly

Hello Vexhold,
When I bought my unRaid pro keys everything happened very quickly.
I'm Sorry you're not getting a response ...

Tom's currently working really hard on the 5.0 beta release, but I'm not sure why that would delay responses to potential customers.

I've found unRaid an incredible help in dealing with all the stuff I record and don't watch until a year later ...

Bobby

Yeah, i thought that after no response to my 1st email (even though the copy of them are getting to my email box just fine), but after 3 emails, I'm giving up. lol.

I guess Ill just reconfigure the usage of the PC's in my house...

The office PC doesnt really need that big Thermaltake Armor Case, and the SageTV server was original built to be a "looks good under a TV" system but is now on a shelf in a back room.

I can easilly swap out these two (I hope)

You could always build your own unRAID.
