Consistent menu item highlighting

On smaller non-lcd screens, it can be hard to see what main menu item is currently focused because it appears to only minimally increase the font size.

I'd rather be able to set the main menus to act like the detailed setup menus that highlight the currently selected menu item with a background.

Is it possible to have all the menus act the same or add more significant highlighting to the main menus in the default SageTV7 interface?

The Serenity plugin works pretty well -- orange highlight and some other theme tweaks. The new plugin manager in V7 allows rather painless plugin install.

Unless I'm missing something, the serenity theme does not change how the main menus are (not) highlighted. It does change the detailed setup menus to orange, but those were already hilghighted in the default theme.

From an user interface standpoint, I think the default theme should use a consistent highlighting method.

yes you're right.

I was having a lot more trouble with trying to see the selected recording (or scheduled recording, etc) since they have a color tint based on type. I liked the old v5 (5 I think), when they made the item color very bright when selected. So you still knew the color code and you could still see the "cursor". Serentity at least makes it easier to find the selected recording, etc. For my TV screen, the main menu items being bolded is acceptable -- bolder with a color would be better.

I also miss the way the old v5 system remembered its lists cursor position so that when you go back in, you land where you left it. That hasn't worked since they went to the v6 "busy" style. It does still remember position in some menus -- but not the most important: recordings or recording schedule.
