WHS reinstall hdhomerun recovery etc
So I believe my system drive is failing in my whs. I am replacing it. I have 2 hdpvrs and a hdhomerun. I currently backup the entire sagetv directory. I am wanting to make my sagetv recovery as painless as possible. Is there anything else I should be concerned about to recover sage from this reinstall. Here is my total sage setup:
hdpvr X2 hdhomerun usb uirt (multi-zoned) Sagetv V6 upgraded to V7 Thanks ahead of time for your input. Bill

Make sure the SageTV service is shut down before backing up the entire directory. It should be all you need. I had done it before and it worked without a hitch. Make sure you update WHS with all the Powerpacks and critical and security updates. Then install all the hardware and drivers and make sure they function. (or show up in decide manager without any warnings.) Run WIndows update again to make sure everything is updated. Then, and only then run the SageTV install. I usually configure a tuner or two and test to make sure everything functions. Or you can choose to skip that. Make sure to recreate any IDs and passwords, additional shares, if any, and permissions to those shares. Keep machine name and any share names the same or your paths stored in the wiz.bin will not work. Shutdown the SageTV service and then copy your backup over it. Reboot the server and verify everything works. This process worked for me. Your mileage may vary.

So since I had version 6.6 and upgraded to v7. What steps should I follow to properly install sagetv? How should I reinstall the hdhomerun (ie do I need to go back through the configuration process in the hdhomerun setup software)? For FYI, I purchased a license for V7. Do I need to install V6 then V7 or can I install V7 input the key and then copy my sagetv backup over the new?

You should just install v7 and put in the keys it asks for. COpying back over your existing, working SageTV 7 backup should take care of all tuner configuration.

So I took your advice. Before the reinstall, I was running 7.0.10. So I downloaded 7.0.10. I installed 7.0.10 vis the whs console. I found the email with the username and key (I paid the upgrade price from V6 to V7). I copy and pasted the info into the whs console. It fails when attempting to license the server stating the info I copy and pasted the info something was not valid. This info worked before when I did the upgrade from V6 to V7. Any ideas?
Thanks again for your time Bill

Now try the v6 key. Then the v7 key. I had an issue on one of my reinstalls where it didn't take any key. Waited 5 minutes and tried again and it took the key. Make sure your Internet connection is up and good also.

If you're using the HDHomeRun with cable, we recommend installing the latest beta software as it corrects issues with scn file generation.
