Getting existing recording to be detected after new install
I was at Windows XP, and I decided on the spur of the moment to go to Windows 7 and upgrade to Sage 7. This was a fresh install, so I wiped the drive with Windows and Sage on it, then installed Windows 7 and Sage 7. I'm really happy with the new sage, but I have one problem. I had 2 hard drives with shows on them (D:, E:, don't remember what they were on XP). After installing sage I copied over my wiz.bin file and I it found all my previous shows, but when I tried to watch some shows it said it couldn't find them. So I checked the meta data on the show and saw that it was looking for it on drive H:, but the show existed on drive E:, so I changed drive E: to be drive H: and then it seemed to find the files. I now noticed that all of the shows that are on drive D: aren't being picked up anymore (and they were being picked up before), but they are on the disk. Both D: and H: are in my folder listing for where to record shows. So Sage knows that they are both there, but I can't seem to get it to pick up any of the shows that are on drive D:. I've tried the FAQ in the general forum for moving recordings but so far I haven't been able to fix this, any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?
I have a complete copy of the previous Sage 6 Installation as a backup so if there are any files I need from there I do still have them. |

When that has happened to me, I just forced a scan for new imported media and it also found the relocated files.
setup / scan imported media

You added the "advanced_video_file_recovery=true" to sage.properties ? as described in the sticky FAQ for moving recordings.
I started the new build with the "empty" wiz.bin. Setup the recording paths. Exit (stop service etc..) Copy the old wiz.bin over. Restart. All should be good. Then after next exit, get rid of recovery=true property. TW |

I did the exact same thing as you, upgraded to Windows 7 and fresh install of SageTV 7.
Did you follow this FAQ? http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...99&postcount=2 Specifically the "Advanced Method", is what I had to do to get Sage to see my recordings in their new paths. Once I ran it, no problems whatsoever. Good luck. Edit: I'm always a bit late, aren't I? |

I tried the suggestions you guys gave, but so far it has not worked for me. I didn't do that at first though, and I've been playing with the system for awhile now and I'm afraid I may have made things worse by messing with stuff trying to get it to work. I might just reinstall Sage and start from fresh.
Thanks for the help -Stephen |
