New Plugin: Recordings Schedule Shortcut by "Fuzzy" REQ: Upcoming recordings Home Scr

Hi all,

EDIT: Fuzzy has made a new plugin that's a new global shortcut - whenever the record button is pressed and no one else is listening. It'll bring up the recording schedule.

SageTV v7 is great! The new interface is very nice, and the animations are much faster than v6.

One thing I'm missing is the upcoming recordings on the main screen I very rarely went to Scheduled Recordings as I always used the recording bar!

I believe it was part of the Dynamic Menus I had a ton-o-plugins installed before, so I'm not 100% sure of that..

Thanks,

Red face Recording Bar Seconded

I second the request. Overall I like the interface, though I did like the list of "Upcoming recordings" and the disk space from one of the STV3 STVi's.

Please replace or create an upcoming recordings bar that is visible on the main screen at load.

Look for the My TV plugin in the SageYV 7 plugin list by Bialo. It's been there since the public beta.

Thirded

I would also love this. While My TV is a fine plugin, it's not exactly what is being requested here. The problem with v7 is having to navigate all of those submenus to find basic information, and My TV is another submenu.

What I want is to have all of that information (recent recordings and upcoming recordings) on the main screen at load, so I don't have to go anywhere to see what my system is doing. As much as I like the pretty pictures, a tasteful overlay column on the right side of the home screen giving me my recordings at a glance would be much more useful.

+1. I really liked the old v6 with the plugin for this info. There's tons of room on the new start screen. It would be so simple to make this an option.

Seriously? It's one right arrow press from the TV menu and it pops out that info automatically by default. It gives you the recently recorded and the coming up recordings. We're talking one button press. And right now it's the only choice you have if you want easy access to that info.

I'm thinking about adding a hook to the RECORD command from the root menu to send you to the parallel recordings screen... That way, if you don't have anything being watched, or aren't focused on a particular media item, it'll take you there with a single click.

Like I said, it's a fine plugin. This is not a major complaint. Personally, though, I'd like to see the information without having to go look for it. It may be just one click, but it's one click I don't need to make every day. I'd gladly trade the beach for recording information.

That would be very cool. Any time your on the "home" screen, if the record button is pressed bam bring up the upcoming recordings. Make it an option if possible to choose if you want Interleaved recordings etc...

Talking Yes Seriously

MyTV is fine, but not good enough compared to what I previously had.

Upcoming recordings was great...immediately visible on the main page. WAF was very high with that.

Having to click into "TV" and then click into "MyTV" are two actions more than was previously needed. WAF has been very low on that.

Having a list of recordings in the order of which is closest to starting would be great. Then I could use a custom menu to create it's own menu item if a hook was not available.

Done: UI MOD - Recordings Schedule Shortcut by Fuzzy in the repository. It'll jump to the currently selected recordings schedule on a press of the RECORD button. This is a global listener, which means it will work whenever nothing else is listening for the RECORD event (like during playback, or in the guide or recordings screen - etc).

Awesome! Perhaps you should post this as a separate plugin thread (or have Fastrack modify the subject line of this one to indicate such)?

If it was that easy to create the hook to do that, what would it take to just add "Upcoming recordings" as a main menu item? (just curious, this will do for now)

Modifying the main menu isn't as easy (well, it is, but may cause problems for other plugins). Besides, it's already in the menu at the secondary level - would be strange to include it at the main primary level as well.

+1 on the request to add this right to the home screen without having to do any navigation, but Fuzzy's add-on is a great step in the right direction.

+1 to have this on the main / home screen. I will try Fuzzy's plugin as well, but we used to like the data right on the bottom of the screen for upcoming recordings and now recording stuff.

Subject of thread has been modified - I have yet to try this yet. But sounds neat. Sounds like it isn't possible to add the recording schedule to the Home screen. But this sounds like the next best thing.

Something like this? No promises but it's something I've been messing with in studio to learn. Not fancy or anything but lists the recent and upcoming shows on the main screen. You can't navigate it or click on it or anything cause it's not part of the menu so it's for display only at this point. Kind of a desktop widget kind of thing. Uses code from Bialio's My TV menu mod.

Nice! Clickable would be even better, but I'd be pretty happy with it.

What happens when the Sage menus overlap, though? That could get ugly. Can it disappear when you open the third column of menus?

I just asked Bialio to update his "MyTV" plugin to display more items on the screen. His plugin does exactly what you want; and, the items are clickable; except currently only 4 items are displayed for upcoming and recently recorded.

This has nothing to do with Bialo's plugin and is more a modified version for Diamond users. This is completely different from his plugin in the since it is always there. I love how you say his time will be "trival" to make it like this. Maybe you should do it if it is so trival...
