Is there a way (easy or difficult) to remove the Hulu section "Popular Movies" from the menu?

I can live with the fact that Hulu has no parental controls as I try to monitor what my 4 kids watch - even if it's correction after the fact. I also use the built-in PlayOn restrictions, but you can still read show titles / descriptions. I'd really rather not place things like "Strictly Sexual", "Edo Porn", etc. at a top-level where they can easily see it.....

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, I'm sure it isn't the plugin, but I thought everyone's experience might help. I get a lot of tearing on action shots in streamed content (like from Netflix).
Restarting the computer seems to help, but it comes back. I've got 'force v-sync' set in graphics. Is there anything else that might be causing it, and might be linked to the computer running for awhile? Thanks for any help.

What are the chances we can get a plugin that will automatically start downloading a video in the queue and once it has finished the entire video stream, it records the video, changes the name to include the Season number and Episode number and have it imported into the recordings section? This will allow households that have multiple people watching TV at once with the limitation of streaming only 1 stream at a time a non issue for the most part as the majority of videos would be on local disk. This would also allow users to only watch a portion of a Hulu video and resume at the same point at a later time. My idea would be to have a time window at which the process would occur, as it shouldn't happen during normal viewing times.

I think this discovery is huge and great things can come from it.
I've asked for this feature before. Unfortunately, automated recording is not allowed by Hulu's terms of service. The creators of the plugin do not want any unwanted attention from Hulu's lawyers.

what causes the videos from playon to load but not play? I can see the green bar getting larger and can skip and fast forward but cant get the video to play. It should be noted that it works fine on all my extenders it only has issues on this new client based computer Im working on, so its probably something wrong with my config somewhere.

(and yes I have tried pushing the play button)

I can respect that no one wants to get into any legal trouble, but after reading the terms of service, aren't we breaking those terms just by displaying Hulu via SageTV? In no way am I trying to shut down the play on plugin as this plugin allows me to no longer have cable service, but I just want to get a better overall understanding.

This would be Playon's issue, not Sage. The plugin works with Playon and doesn't access the Hulu site directly.

If that is the case, how would creating a script that automatically records the content through PlayOn, break Hulu's terms of service?

As I've said, may times before, this plugin will never do any scheduled downloading of PlayOn content, its purpose is just to stream content.

Don't read anything into the ability to hit record to save a show, that's just a unintended byproduct of Sage's Podcast/Youtube code that i'm reusing.

No short cuts in menu

I have installed Playon and the plug-in and I don't have any short cuts to Netfliz, hulu or any of the services except the fault ones. I have started Playon first, tried starting the plug-in first, rebooted the system, restarted stv, just about every combination I can think of and still no short cuts. I have attached the log file.

Any help on this?

Which plugin did you install? The Playon for SageTV:STVI under UI mod or the Playon for SageTV Hulu\Netflix Importer under General plugins?

You want the Playon for SageTV:STVI under UI mod.

That did it, thanks a million. that is something you would think Playon would point out, that there are """2"" Playon plugins to make sure you get the correct one.

I posted in the Canada section but I realize it's not really the place.

Here is my is situation:

1. The plugin works when I use my vpn and playon for everything in Hulu.
2. The plugin works when I use playon and Canadian Netflix.
3. It doesn't work when I use my vpn and playon with American Netflix. I get the message: "The requested media file was not found on the server".

I have tried Hulu before and after trying American Netflix and it works great. And the Canadian Netflix works with Playon. This would tell me the problem is not Playon or my VPN. The STVs are up to date.

When I look at the UPnPBrowser.log for show that works on Hulu and one for that doesnt work for Netflix, the logs look very similar...

What can be a possible cause for this?

Can you plan both Canadian and US Netflix files in your web browser? Please post your resolution as I just started my trial for Canadian Netflix and I wouldn't mind also trying a VPN service for US based services as well.

Using the browser:
With the vpn off, I can watch Netflix Canada.

With vpn on, I can watch Netflix US and Hulu.

Ironically, with the exchange Netflix US is slightly cheaper than Netflix Canada

It's a real mystery why it won't work...

What do you mean post my resolution?

By resolution I mean how you resolve the problem.

Could the problem be login info? In PlayOn you set up your Netflix acount by entering your email address and password. You must have two Netflix accounts - how do you deal with this in PlayOn? I wonder if there is a way of having two Netflix accounts in PlayOn?

Although theoretically the US$ is worth less than the CA$ I would bet that you bank is charing you more than a 1.00 exchange rate so in practice the US service is still more expensive.

Playon only allows for one netflix account, so I have been changing the info on the fly.

I wish this was the problem, it would be easy to fix...

The problem has something to do with how Sage is getting the Netflix stream through the VPN...

After some playing around with my iphone, it seems that it is a PlayOn issue as my iphone can not play netflix through PlayOn either.

I have submitted a ticket with them and will let you know the outcome...

Does PlayOn not stop when you end playback I have been testing it and while watching a show I see that MediaMallServer.exe uses about 10% of my CPU. When I stop the movie it keeps using the same amount of CPU resources. Should that be happening? Does it just take it a little while to realize the playback has stopped?

I see talk of people mentioning recording - does this mean that you can record a show in Sage that is coming in via PlayOn?

Keep getting the java.net.SocketTimoutException: Read timed out error.

I've researched here and did what I thought I needed including, removing playon and silverlight. Ran windows update. Re installed playon and silverlight and updated the flash 10.1. Then rebooted.

Same problem. Can't play any netflix or playon.

What do I look for next?

Thanks

Did you try connecting to Netflix through Internet Explorer (not Firefox) to make sure it works on your computer?
AFter that, did you try connecting through an iphone, ipad, ipod touch or something like that? Or you could also activate mobile access and access through your browser: m.playon.tv. If it still doesn't work then it's a PlayOn problem. If mobile access works, then it is a Sage problem.

Good luck!
