Problem:
When I select an episode or video to watch, it will load into the viewing screen and the green bar will begin to move, which indicates that the video is downloading. If I scroll along the green bar using my mouse, it shows the still scenes at whatever point in the timeline I choose, so this confirms that the videos are downloading.

However, the video itself will not actually play, no matter what I do.

Any ideas?
Try and press play again

ummm... yeah... I tried that.

I've tried to toggle pause/play at least a hundred times... with about 25 different videos... after a dozen or more reboots...

My local media files still play fine through the SMM plugin and the normal UI, so it's only when I try to play anything in PlayOn that it downloads the video, but then just sits there.

You'd be shocked at how often that was the problem for some people

Off the top of my head I have no clue what the problem could be. Try shutting down Sage, going straight to a PlayOn video, try to play it for 10 or so seconds, then shut down Sage again. Next zip up your sagetv_0.txt log file an attach it to the thread for me to take a look at.

Has anyone had an issue with Netflix where the movie or TV show stops at some point and does it each time you watch that show? If i watch on my computer all is fine. I thought this was corrected with the update to Playon?

Do you have an HD200 that you could crank into standalone mode to test playon to see if it plays your content fine?

I don't see that in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\SageTV\logs

Where is that particular file located?

(Thank you for all of your help and continued work on this plugin!)

Actually, no; but, I do have an HD300 on the way -- sometime soon, I hope!

This problem is happening on my PC test rig that I'm using to get everything squared away before the new HD300 shows up.

You have to enable debug logging in Sage's settings first.

Alright, I finally figured out all the steps necessary to provide you with the requested info ()... it's definitely still doing the same thing -- just sitting at 0:00 even though they are definitely downloading.

I just upgraded from 6.6 to latest 7. I have the latest PlayOn. I installed the plugin via the SageTV 7 UI. I can't see the PlayOn menu options in SageTV or the HD200. I can go into SageTV videos and see my queue among all the other videos, but I get the message "you shouldn't be seeing this" when I try to play them from there. I attached a log. Any help would be much appreciated!

Also, is it sage to remove the PlayOn directory from the group of video import directories?

Edit - I should add I had the original plugin working with 6.6 if that matters. And I can get to PlayOn via my iPhone, so at least THAT device is able to see PlayOn and it's working correctly.

Make sure you installed PlayOn For SageTV: STVi under the UI Mod section.

Thanks for confirming I'm an idiot. I'll let my wife know her suspicions were correct...

EP,
My UPnP Browser dependency has not update, since the (indicated) update on 9/5. But it says not to touch it, it will update automatically. How do I get it to update?

Just ignore the warning and download it anyway

Any luck analyzing the log file I attached in my last message?

Thanks again for your time and efforts!

I've had that issue with the video not playing but you can see the stills as you fast forward on my client. In my case the issue was a bad audio decoder. I'd try out different options under settings for your audio renderer and decoder for mpeg2 content and see if anything makes a difference. If this is just a test client though the issue should go away with the hd300.

Yep, looks like Sage is having trouble putting playing back the content with your specified filters. AFAIK, the default filters work great, especially in v7 so if you've customized it, maybe revert back.

That did the trick on the test rig. I changed the mpeg2 decoder filter to Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder, and it fixed the problem (It was previously set on the SageTV decoder). PlayOn is working great now!

THANK YOU!!!

It's just too bad UPS screwed up and delayed the arrival of my HD300 until Monday...

I'm having the same issues.

Thanks

I can see that the plugin is creating the FLV file. I am running sage as a service.

I have searched high and low on this forum and have discovered that Error -2 is a file permission problem. I have tried all the suggestions in other postings to no avail. I have tried:
-running the service on the administrator account and not the local system
-choosing a shared folder instead of a temp folder
-choosing another disk other than the one with the operating system
-uninstalling and reinstalling this plugin
-all of this with multiple reboots

I have noticed that when I run sage client on the server machine, then the plugin works fine.

Clearly the problem is with any placeshifter or client using the plugin.

Any ideas how to get around this file access problem?

Latest version of Playon Breaks the Plugin.

Hey EP,

It appears that the latest version of playon 3.0.15.1175 breaks this plugin. I upgraded and confirmed that playon was working by going into standalone mode on the extender and playing a video. However, when I try to play the same file on my HD300 I get errors that the file is no longer available.

It also looks like playon has changed up the directory structure again. If I select of the links from the Online Videos submenu, ie CBS, it takes me to the root playon directory where I have to chose netflix, comedy central, cbs, etc. This is on all of the submenu's that you have created.

Attached are the logs. In the beginning i try to navigate through the menus and see that the links are all messed up. I then attempt to play a show from CBS, CSI and I'm given an error that the file is no longer available on the server. I then attempt to play it again on the HD300 in standalone mode and it goes through.

On a related note, does anyone have a copy of the previous version so I can get things back up and running? I was running 3.0.11 before w/o issue. Thought I had a backup but they were all patches.

Thanks,
Peter

I keep several previous versions of playon for these situations. You can download 3.0.11 here
