Well that's odd. The .jar files look OK, there aren't any plugins failing to load, doesn't look like there are any obvious duplicate .jar files, and it doesn't look like there are any obvious missing .jar files.

If you haven't rebooted the machine, I would try that next. If you've done that or it doesn't work, I would try redeploying the apps Jetty application. You can do that by shutting down SageTV completely, find the SageTV\jetty\webapps\apps folder and delete the apps folder. I'm not sure exactly where this will be located on Windows 7, but once you find and delete that apps folder, you can restart SageTV. Give SageTV a couple of minutes to startup to allow the Jetty plugin to get started. The apps folder will be recreated, and then you can check to see if you get the same error.

Do you have the Jetty web server logging set to Verbose? If not, do that. You can do that from the SageTV Plugin Manager...Setup->SageTV Plugins->Installed Plugins. Select the Jetty web server plugin and choose Configure in the options popup. Set the Log Level setting to Verbose, then scroll up to the top of the settings and click the Restart Web Server button...take note of what the time is when you restart the web server. Then try to get to the Jetty web server apps web page with the web browser. Assuming it still gives you an error, post the last portion of the debug log starting from the time the web server was restarted.

Along with the log, post your jetty settings from the sage.properties file. Scroll down to the lines that begin with jetty/ and post those here.

Couple of other questions... Did you have these plugins working at all at some point with SageTV V7 and then they broke? Were you running the old SageTV V6 version of these plugins prior to upgrading to SageTV V7?

Well, I'm stumped. No apparent Jetty problems appear in the SageTV debug logs. Looks like the correct versions of jetty*.jar and jsp*.jar files. Unless one of those files are corrupt, I'm out of ideas.

It looks like robogeek had you troubleshoot all the normal cases. I don't see anything either, so let's have you look at a few more things. These things might seem unrelated but I'm just trying to think of any possible cause and to get a picture of your system's state.

  • Clear your browser's cache and try to reload the web page.
  • Try this URL in your browser (with your server and port): http://<server>:<port>/sage/menu_items.js
  • Search for the menu_items.js file in your Sage install directory while Sage is running (so the files extracted from the war into webapps can be included in the search). See where all it turns up. Post those files here, along with where they were found, so I can try them.
  • Can you answer robogeek's question above about Sage 6 and 7? It may be important to know if you had nielm's web UI running in Sage 6 and whether or not it was running in Jetty.
  • List the contents of your 'webserver' folder in the SageTV installation directory. It's probably better to save this to a file and post the file as an attachment.

thanks for replying..
clearing cache, no change.
i don't recall if this was an override install of V7 over V6, i've tweaked sage so many times now i can't remember...
i entered the menu_items.js in the browser and got a 404 error, item not found. when i searched my sage install directory, the file was not found. here attached is a file with the contents of my webserver folder.
not having the menu_items.js file seems like a problem...

That's ok if you're running it in Jetty. All the files will be under jetty/webapps in the folder where the war is extracted.

Try this: shut down SageTV then look to see if there are any subdirectories in jetty/webapps. All the directories should be deleted when SageTV shuts down. If they're still there then they were only partially deleted at some point and now it's in an invalid state. Delete them and restart SageTV.

Hi everyone:

So i'm trying to set this up so that I can use an SSL connection, but every time I follow the instructions, and start things back up, the web server never responsd via SSL or via normal HTTP.

I have checked the logs numerous times and can't seem to find anything in there. ..

I also do not have a linux machine easily available. . .so even being able to generate a .keystore file was quite a pain, and I have a suspicion that this is where my problem lies. . .

Is there no way this can't be updated to just generate a generic cert so that HTTPs will work?

I only ask b/c I'm starting to use my setup over the Internet a lot more and I'm leary of sending username / pwd info in the clear. . .

Did you have any trouble on the wiki page? If so you might try using the values on that page (e.g. 123456 for the password) so it's not any more complicated than it already is. Once you're comfortable with creating the certificate then you could do it with a different password and encrypt the password in the properties file.

Can you post the jetty/jetty.ssl.* properties from your Sage.properties file? Also take a look at the Jetty plugin's configuration in the Plugin Manager and let me know what the values are for Enable SSL, HTTP Port, HTTPS Port, and Log Level.

You don't need a Linux machine. There should be a keytool.exe in C:\Program Files\Java under one of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) directories that's installed on your machine.

It's possible. There are Java APIs that will do it but I haven't ever used them and haven't had time to learn them.

No connection to Jetty

I have been trying to get the mobile web server working for some time now to no avail.
Tonight I tried to access the BMT web page for the first time and I have the same problem "error 404 NOT_FOUND" .
I decided to enable fanart as my new HD300 has just arrived.
I am using windows 7 on a server and watching on extenders. I have a dynamic ip but this should not affect me connecting on my home network.
Should I be able to access the web server and BMT web page on the server (iphone planned for mobile web server)
Can anybody help?

What happens when you go to http://<server>:<port>/apps ? You should see the list of installed web applications.

Hi jreichen
When I enter http://192.168.2.*:8080/apps, I get the following error.

HTTP ERROR: 404

Problem accessing /apps. Reason:

NOT_FOUND

Powered by Jetty://

Jetty does not seem to be working for me. All looks as it should but always the same error.

Hey,
I just installed the sagetv mobile web interface and it works great on my local network. I having trouble getting it work on my iphone on the 3G network / external network.

I got a dyndns adress that works if I type it while connected to my wifi. Works too if I type my iports/sagem/m/. It's not working while I'm on the 3G.

Do you think my router reroute the traffic locally when I'm typing my IP (or my dyndns adress) ? I'm just trying to figure out where does it block. Another question... In the configuration window of the plugin (within SageTV menus), there's an option called "Internet connection". Just below it says "Placeshifter UPnP must first be configured in Detailed Setup - Unavailable". Do I need to do something here ? My router doesn't support UPnP. I fowarded the ports manually for the placeshifter...

Could it be blocked ports with my ISP or my cellular provider? If so, can I specify a port with dyndns ? Can't seems too beside using a webhop with the ip hard typed in it.

You need more than just a dyndns adress. That gives a name to your public IP address. Now you hvae to forward that from your router to your SageTV server.

Yeah I know. I've done port forwarding before. In fact I've done for the placeshifter, my Air Video server, etc... Everything works fine. I was just wondering if I had to enable something with the sagetv mobile server to access it from the internet.

As it only works when connected to my wifi, I guess my router route the traffic locally and that's why it works. Weird that all my other port forwording are working...
