Does MyTheatre plug-in work with Sage 7
I got Sage 7 installed on my server and updated my extenders. For the most part, things seem to be working well, but I've got one big issue. The MyTheatre plugin isn't working right. When I select a channel, MT changes to the correct channel and starts recording but Sage never shows anything on the extenders. On the Sage Server, if I wait a really long time some shows will eventually start playing. The recording starts immediately though and can be played back just fine in VLC.
Does anyone have it working successfully? It works great with the latest version 6 release. |

I wanted to post an update. I've found that lower bitrate channels work fine. Higher bitrate channels are the ones that won't work. The threshold seems to be pretty low for what works and what doesn't though. I don't have any HD channels working and higher bitrate SD channels don't work either. My source is a Cband dish and right now, the only channels I can confirm to work are some of the Caribbean island network channels.

By default in Sagetv 7 these are turned on default
seeker/fast_mux_switch=true videoframe/safe_fast_file_switching=true And this plugin required them be turned off in V6 (set to false) I don't think any one tested this out yet, go right ahead and let us know. Because V7 records a programs differently it may not work.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately those settings don't appear to have any affect on the problem. I have found that the problem isn't as bad on a Windows client as it is on an extender. The extenders just flat out can't play the file from the plugin unless the bitrate is very low. I even tried playing one by searching for it, and it still wouldn't play. The Windows client will at least start playing the file, it just takes about 25 seconds for it to start. Under version 6, the extenders could play every channel just fine, and would start playing within 4 seconds.
I'm wondering if I could get some support from Sage on this if I can show that the file produced by MT is not playable on the extender. Quote:

Partial Fix
I just figured something out. If I use this setting for the encoder:
encode_digital_tv_as_program_stream=false I can get a picture in about 4 seconds on an extender (hd100 or hd200), but no sound on most channels. Tuning time is about the same on a Windows client, but I get sound on all channels. I'm thinking there are 2 issues: the first is recording program streams isn't working right, and the second is the sound issue on extenders when playing back transport streams. Anyone have a thought on how to fix the sound issue? |

hello iammike,
Have you had any luck solving your problem since May ? I'm in the process of changing my SageTV v6 to v7 and i'm interested in your matter and/or solution you found. Regards, Cortechs.

+1 for the DVBDream Network Encoder plugin been using it since it was released like 2 years ago and it works like a champ. I used the MT plugin before but since the addition of H264 channels things got ugly. Now the DVBDream plugin has H264 support plus some nice extra features.
